On an interesting Tuesday I wore ... Black and Cream

Beautiful Bobbi
This lovely new skirt comes thanks to my Schatz.  It has a tweed print on the front which is what caught my eye.  Although the cold weather has not 'set in' I decided to wear black tights with the outfit as my bare legs didn't look right.  The top is my black sleevless peplum with a black long sleeved top underneath.

Today I received the Visa interview date information for Courteneys' application.  Next week she goes for her medical and on 11 June is the day.  Before we know it, she'll be heading State side - providing she stops fighting with us about it.  Its a choice she made some time back and was adamant about and now is hesitant, which is understandable, however I think its the best thing.
Bobbi being curious
Our cute little Bobbi girl was curious and when I rubbed my fingers together she jumped up to see if I had anything.   I love when she jumps up and grabs me with her paws as she does it so gently ... she's a really sweet little animal.   With the evenings being cooler, she's spending most evenings snuggled between Schatz and I.

You may notice my hair is a lot darker ... Courteney and I coloured my hair and despite our best effort not to, we managed to colour my highlights but I'm sure they'll show up a little more with each hair wash.  Under the light you can see them, just not as clearly as they were.  If they don't show up quickly though, I will probably have a few foils done .. and on that thought, I'm on my way again ... hope your Tuesday was fabulous ...

Black skirt and grey

I've been absolutely itching to wear this skirt (remember my request for stylistas input back in December) and considering I got it in December, and its already March - it was high time I did.  It's helped that I've lost two kilos as it was just a little tight around the waist initially.

I've pondered and wondered and thought about what to wear with this skirt, then it dawned on me to keep it, as some suggested, "simple" so as not to distract from the skirt but to rather draw attention to it so I decided to keep it simple with a grey t-shirt and plain black court heels.  How do you think I did?

 Skirt : Foschini | T-shirt : Woolworths | Courts (Pumps) : Legit

Sigh - we don't do daylight saving here in South Africa and the sun is waking up a little later each week and I'm finding myself lying in bed listening for the chatter of the birds, however, with the sun waking later, they too are waking later - so why do I have to wake at the same time still?!   :-)

Hope your day was fabulous ... hugs

FABruary Style Challenge : Day 20 : Boot Up

With summer temperatures expected here in Jozie today - I had to pass on this challenge.  I'm aware that its been on trend to wear boots with shorts and summer dresses, but I do believe I'm just not up to that trend at this stage of my life.

My offering for the day is this gorgeous soft top I bought fairly recently at Foschini.  I had originally chosen a beautiful blue top but when I got it home and fitted it, I wanted it a little bigger so I returned to get a bigger size, but they had none in the colour I'd originally chosen.  Dilemma!  I then chose this beautiful rich plum-ish colour.  Its more gorgeous in person.

This top is so versatile ... I wore it with shorts on the weekend and have every intention of styling it with jeans and other bottoms in my closet and I'll be wearing this right through winter as well.

Hope your Wednesday was fabulous.

Tan and White

The mug was a gift from my ex and his wife ... it says 'coffee and shoes makes everything better'

As I mentioned, I have promised to try and wear items I haven't worn in a while by restyling.  I haven't worn this skirt for a while as it was a wee bit tight, but dropping just a kg makes a difference over the hip area for me ;-).

Tan skirt and white ruffle top

Details
Skirt : Mr Price  |  Shirt :  Truworths |  Belt : Edgars | Necklace : Gift from Miz T | Shoes : Chinese Store |
Ring : Truworths
I haven't worn either of these items for months ... but do take note of the new shoes ... they're the ones Schatz bought me for Christmas.  Its the first time I've worn them and of course, new shoes are always a little challenging.  My necklace was finally fixed when Miz T came to visit so at last I could wear it again.
Photo bomber
I had originally planned to wear a navy and white striped t-shirt and the lace blazer, but then decided to go with this top instead.  At least I have another outfit idea.

I hope your Wednesday was amazing ... here's to a stylish and fabulous day.

Red 'n white

Red and white ... for Christmas
Top : Woolworths
Pants : Woolworths
Belt : Foschini
Shoes : ShoeCity
Necklace : Foschini

I'm celebrating ... its the last work day of the year for me ... don't be fooled, I'll work much harder at home, but at least I'm the 'boss' there ...lol.

Jodi has not photobombed for a while so it was cute when she joined us this morning ... just getting her to stop scratching was a bit of a mission.  She really smiles at me when she sits in front of me like this.  So cute she is ... but she's getting old now and battling to stand up quickly.  I find it so sad.

Now as its the home stretch, let me finish tidying my desk and office and all the bits I need to get done ... have a super day now.

Animal print with an OBI belt

Skirt : Woolworths (2008)
Top : Foschini
Belt : OBI
Sandals : Edgars

Today I had to choose between a white t-shirt, a blue top and this one ... so the cerise top won out, which is not a colour I'd naturally consider wearing with an animal print skirt but overall, I think it worked out well.

I feel so much better than I did yesterday, although my back is still sore and I am a little stuffier, I feel 90% better.  I went looking for a Christmas gift for Graeme, but did not find what I was looking for.  Rather disappointing, but I still have time to try other stores.  I did get Courteneys gift and only have Liam, Taryn and their Dads gift left to get.  I already have a gift for their stepmom Elaine (yes we're odd, we buy each other gifts and many people can't understand it ... but life goes on and I choose to be happy and accept that it is what it is and honestly, she's such a gorgeous lady I can't help liking her).

Its really quiet at our office - more staff go on leave today and the last of us hangers on are here 'til Friday.  Someone has to turn off the Christmas tree lights and pack away the computers.

I do hope you have your shopping all done and wrapped ... enjoy your day now and do drop me a note on your way out the door.

Red capris and a floral peplum

Capris and a floral peplum
Peplum : Fashion Express
Capris : Woolworths
Shoes : ShoeCity
Earrings : Foschini
Bracelets : Charlotte Russe & Various others

Schatz was still half asleep and shaky when he tooks my pics this morning, so apologies for the bluriness of the pic.  I am feeling in the holiday/weekend spirit so decided to wear my capris.  I find this top to be happy - the colour and the print just looks happy and I enjoy feeling happy.

Last night was our monthly Sistas Dinner.  With it being December, we gave out Christmas gifts.  I got such gorgeous gifts.  I'm hoping to get photos from my sisters soon to share.

Norma gave us each a little wooden crate filled with yummy goodies like biscuits and sweeties as well as a three piece cake set.  Its quite different and definitely gorgeous.
Noleen gave us each a wall hanging with a poem on it and a gorgeous clock.
Lynn gave us a note book (mine has an image of the Eiffel Tower on it), scarf, sweeties and hand cream.

I gave Noleen and Lynn each a pendant and for Norma I got a bracelet and I added in a little Christmas fruitcake and a minature candycane.  I also brought Christmas Crackers for us to share.  I always enjoy watching the other patrons faces ... as curious as they are about what we're getting up to as curious as I am about them :-).

While I was out to dinner I got a message from home saying that our young cat was missing.  Schatz and the kids searched the closets and he went around the garden with a torch, but she was nowhere to be found.  Luckily this morning the neighbours domestic told our Felicia that they had taken her to the SPCA - she's home safe and sound but she's such a little adventurer we're going to have to keep a close eye on her.  She's also due to be 'fixed', so we'd best get that done soonest ... however cute a little litter of kittens would be, I so don't want to fall in love with even more animals.

I guess as I need now is a Santa bag and I could look like a southern hemisphere Santa helper :0).

Happy day to you

Stripes and shocking pink

Striped skirt and cerise tie-front top
Skirt : Truworths
Shoes : Rage
Top : Foschini
Tank : Truworths
Watch : Fossil
Pendant : I think it was from Mr. Price
Pinned Image
Antique looking pendant

I fell in love with the romantic old worlde look of the pendant.  I however had 'lost' it and found it on Saturday behind the cushion of the chair in our room.

The other items are all worth celebrating as well ... I bought the top because everytime I saw my sister Norma in hers I thought it looked lovely, the skirt is a simple black and grey striped and the shoes are my favourite two tone cap toe shoes that I hunted for.

Today is another day closer to holidays ... yes, I'm starting a countdown as I am just beyond happy that the end of the year is upon us ... 7 works days left.

Hope your Wednesday is fabulous and that you're way ahead on the holiday shopping and sticking to the budget.

Keep is Sassy now.

The basic black pencil skirt

Black pencil skirt, blazer and accessorized with red.

Earrings : Foschini
Belt : from a Chinese store (no brand)
Cami : Woolworths (as old as the hills)
Skirt : Truworths
Blazer : Contempo
Fresh water pearls : NWJ (Natal Wholesale Jewelers)
Watch : Lanco

And so it is Tuesday ... I battled again to get out of bed.  But its my own fault as I jinxed myself by falling into a deep sleep on the couch last nite when I should just have gone directly to bed.  So at 23:00 I went up to bed, but after washing my face and brushing my teeth I was ready for the day to begin and battled to get to sleep.  The last time I check the time it said 00:44!

Today we have clients visiting and I thought I'd do an office appropriate look, partly to get myself into the mood for the second last Tuesday of the working year for me and partly because I'm feeling rather un-creative (is that a word).

My cami is lovely and I adore the lace strip over the top, it adds just a little bit of 'sexy' under the blazer.   I want to scout Woolworths and see if they by any small chance have the same style in stock.  They tend to keep styles for a lot longer than other stores.  This cami is looking a little washed out now and I wear it so often I really should invest in another one.

Another day with red making an appearance in my belt which was a birthday gift last year from a friend at work and my red multi-toned heels.  I think I could have worn more of a statement necklace, but had run out of time and since my pearls were out, I grabbed them as I dashed out.

So whats the verdict - hit or miss?

White and blue ... I should be on the beach

White capris with a blue top
Capris : Woolworths
Top : Legend @ Makro
Wedges : Unreal Brand @ ShoeCity
Necklace : Foschini
Earrings : Truworths
Bracelet : Truworths

Its a wonderful, wonderful day ... today is my Friday!  I decided to take tomorrow off to get some things done, namely, visit the doctor and have some blood tests done (finally), collect my boys school reports, visit the hairdresser and then help with the moving and packing back of furniture as the carpets are being cleaned tomorrow - yippee!!

I thought I'd dress more in my Friday style of clothing so that I can get in the weekend mode.

Hope your day is fabulous!

Fuschia inspired (not intentionally though)

Shocking pink and purple ... matching my Fuschias
Skirt : Mr. Price
Top : Foschini
Shoes : Brand - Unreal | Store : Shoe City
Necklace and bracelet - Truworths
Ring : Mr. Price (a gift from my son Jarod)

The skirt worn peviously ... I see it was also with a tie-front t-shirt ... I think I'm quite liking the tie-front trend.

I feel pretty and blooming in these bright colours.  As I looked down at the Fuschia in the pot to my left, I realised I was wearing the same colours as my plant.  I absolutely adore Fuschias, to the point that I have about 12 plants in pots around my house (not as extreme as some people I know).  I am especially fond of doubles.  My love for them is spilling over onto my son Jarod who has two of his own that he looks after.

These shoes were bought to replace the pair I was wearing yesterday as driving had 'eaten' the area just above the heel.  I've now started wearing shoes just for driving ... I've messed up quite a few pairs of shoes and I'm not happy about that and I have no one to blame but myself.

How is your Christmas shopping going?  I first need to get Schatzies birthday present and my sister Normas ... and I have no idea what my children are wanting.  I know Jarod is saving for a Xbox and Courts was a push up bikini ... Liam - well he says he has everything he wants, at 12!

Whats on your Christmas wish list?

Mine looks something like this :
Nikon 70-200 mm lens
Cover my chair seat ... still needing to get it done.

Thats about it ... whats wrong with me? lol ... oh wait, nothing wrong, I'm just truly blessed.

Thanks for visiting and reading and commenting on my 'life' - I appreciate it.

Parisian Inspiration & two updates

I visited Paris in 2004 and fell so in love with the city, however, with four children in tow, it's rather difficult to truly explore a city and enjoy all that a city such as Paris is made up of - between nap times, wails of " I'm hungry, bored, I'm (fill in the blank)", dashing to keep them from running into traffic and needing to entertain them, it was a challenge to say the least.  However, ever since, I've wanted to return, without the youngest bunch.  I'd return with my eldest because I think she fell as much in love with it as I did - but next time, I'll wear walking shoes and go up and down every street and alley and walk up and down as many flights of stairs as possible to get the best views.  I will not forgo going up the Eiffel Tower, ever if it means I have to walk it or climb it.
Some time back, I was in Foschini and found this necklace and bought as a 'physical' reminder of my wish to return.  Previously Lisa said she's like to see a better picture of it and as I put it down on my nightstand I remember her comment and thought I'd take a better picture so that she could see it.  It's really what we'd call 'junk jewellery', but I absolutely love it.  In fact I'd like to buy a silver chain for it in time.
I wore it twice this week but did not get around to photographing my outfit yesterday which was made up on my red jeans, white shirt and red polka dot heels accessorised with this pendant.

But I also wore it with this look on Wednesday

Coral Trousers : Legit
Knit top : Legit
Shoes : Kelso
Eiffel Tower pendant : Foschini (Belle & Ivy) - so hoping I run across it in one of their stores as I'd love to send one to someone I know.

On Thursday I went dotty as the temperature plummeted

Top : Contempo
Trousers : Edgars
Shoes : La Diva (but they made their last appearance as they simply exhaust my feet each time I wear them)
Pearls : NWJ

Now it's Saturday and I'm stil in PJ's at just afte 10am but I've done my banking, worked a little on my 2013 budget and blogged.  I'm hoping to catch up with all my favourite blogs through the day as well as I'm been battling to get around to visit everyone - I had a wicked week.

Hope your weekend is magical.

Blogger inspiration ... denim and red ... thanks Bessie

On Tuesday evening as I was hopping around the blogs reading and enjoy all the gorgeous stylish ladies, I visited Bessie and saw this outfit.  Ah, the light bulb went off, I can create this outfit without a problem.  Only thing, I don't have such a thick belt, so I went with my snakeskin belt and shoes.  Since it's Spring here, I did not wear hose.   I added my royal blue set of bracelets bought a couple weeks back - I am so smitten with this colour at the moment.

The usual photo bomber ... she loves posing

Tiara tantrums

On my way home from work, I stopped at a Costume Store in the hope that they'd have the goodies Miss Boo has requested for her birthday - at her school, the birthday girl wears a tiara, sash and a bunny tail ... well, I found a little tiara but none of the items she's asking for.
Drama boy

Then I grabbed Liam and he's so dramatic, you'd think I were shaving his hair off ... silly boy.

I can't wait for my hairdresser to get back to work.  I'm desperate for a cut.  I could not get time before she went on leave and now it feels like its been months.  Its one of those strange things in life, one day your hair is fine, suddenly the next the style just seems to leave.  I'll never understand it.

Hope your Thursday was fabulous.

Come on Summer, come on

I adore pretty feminine dresses, however, I often feel that they engulf and overpower me.  Schatz doesn’t particularly like me in fluffy/flared skirts and dresses as he thinks they make women look larger than they are.  Now being a bit of a pear, they’re supposed to do well on my figure, yet, I don’t think they look grand.

I just received the images below in my morning fix from All 4 women and although there were a few ‘flared’ pear-shaped appropriate dresses, these spoke louder to my winter weary soul.

Colour block bodycon,
R340, Foschini

Striped bodycon dress,

Pink cocktail dress with jewelled neckline R380, Foschini

This would be so lovely for an afternoon wedding, or a special dinner out.

Peplum and lace wishes

From left: work top with lace sleeve detail and peplum, R360; teal cross-over top, R390 from Foschini via All 4 Women.

I love peplums!  When they were 'in style' in the early 90's. I had a beautiful soft pink suit and the jacket was a peplum ... I wore that suit to marry my ex however there are no photos.  We slipped off on a Friday afternoon and only a handful of people knew what we going to do.  I wish we'd at least taken a picture of two.

Back to present day - I really like the look of the black peplum top and will definitely take a peep at it when it arrives in stores.  Foschini has of the nicest work wear.

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend.

Remember, Keep it Simply Sassy and Stylish.

Saturday outing and my Navajo Jacket

My overall look for the day
I was not too sure I'd embrace this trend as I tend to steer clear of 'ethnic' type clothing, like kimonos and too many 'african' beads etc.

But when I saw this in the store earlier this week, it appealed to me.  Possibly the main attraction was the colours, because I do so love earth tones, and I have spent a fair amount of  money on work style clothes, that I thought it a good idea to buy something a little more casual, but that I could also 'style up' for work with the right skirt, work pants and top.

 Pants : Truworths
Vest : Truworths
Jacket : Foschini
Boots : Woolworths
Satchel - given to me by Taryn years ago

Visit my sister Lynn's blog for her version of the outing.

We headed off to an actique/vintage auction in Meyerton.  We'd been told that the Vespa Club would be riding out, but we did not get to see them.  Graeme chatted with a gent there about his two Vespas that need to be restored and tomorrow he's going to visit the Classic Bike Club and take his Vespas through for the man to take a look at them.

My sister, brother-in-law and nephew came with us.  There were some awesome items at the stalls and although I saw a gorgeous office chair, scale and butter churner, we did not spend.

The 'loving' biker boys we share our lives with.  Two of my four most favourite males in the world.
I absolutely adore my brother (in-law)!

There were awesome old signs all over.

My little fashionista
who also posted some cute pictures on her blog
Front grill of a 1953 Zephyr
We then headed to Café du Cirque for coffee and sadly, the milkshakes were so small and Lynn did not enjoy her Carrot Cake :-(

The cousins

I don't think my head engaged with the camera today - but tomorrow is another day to give it a go.

Hope your Saturday was stunning.
