At the zoo

Graeme bought a Groupon voucher for a visit to the Pretoria Zoo.
We saw a white tiger, the bear having fun in water, we saw reptiles, monkeys, gorillas, cheetahs, snakes, sharks (something I remember from when I was a kid and we visited the Zoo with our headmaster, who happened to be our moms boyfriend for a time) reptiles, birds, deers, seals, a parrot that said 'hello' and more.

Courteney, Jarod, Liam and Me.

This morning my legs are sore - I can't remember when last I walked so darn much, but I sure realised how unfit I am.  I'm considering following the USN 12 week body makeover.  I will include the eating plan from Weigh-Less as I can't imagine myself eating the three meal options for dinner for a straight 12 weeks!

Mint, sequins and navy and white stripes

Details : Blazer and skirt : Truworths | Tank : Mr. Price | Shoes : La Diva | Necklace : The Silver Company

You may remember this outfit from a previous viewing and I wore the skirt to the wedding we went to a month or so ago.  I wore it sans the striped blazer this time.  With the weather cooling I added the striped blazer and a pair of pantihose.

I added my super pretty necklace that Schatz bought me for Christmas, a single silver bracelet and a blingy ring.  I kept the accessories simple as the top is so shiny.

Thats all for the moment friends.

Pearls and polka dots

My sisters and me met for our Sistas dinner and celebrated Mothers Day since we are all mothers, at the Mugg and Bean.   The meal was great,  the service excellent and the company insane.

For work I wore my newish Mr. Price mens polka dot shirt.  I still need to alter it a little but will need to be inspired to do that.   I teamed or with my new pearl necklace,  basic black work trousers, red blazer and pearl bracelets.

Its Monday ... I wore grey and mint and a whole lot of sparkle

Guess what ... I still haven't seen my hairstylist ... her gran was ill and she couldn't do my hair on Tuesday and I've not rescheduled as yet.
I am rather impressed by how good my hair is looking except for the colour.

Grey on grey with a dash of mint and for good measure, some sparkles

Can anyone explain why these trousers 'bunch' on the thighs?  They have stretch and are not at all tight, although they are fitted, but there are always the two 'lines' across the thigh.

Since I'm full of sparkle, I think its impossible to be invisible ... so I'm joining up with Patti at Not Dead Yet Style for Visible Monday

I wore a black and white polka dot shirt from the mens dept. .. to work on Monday

I have been looking for a white and black polka dot cotton shirt for a few months now.  I saw sheer-ish nylon shirts, but with big polka dots and black shirts with white polka dots and was about giving up hope of finding what I was wanting when saw this in the mens dept. at Mr. Price three weeks back when I took Jarod shopping ... oh happiness!
White and black bag from Justine Cosmetics
The shirt is in need of a little tailoring and feminising which I'll get done soon.  I was going to war it with a white skirt, but then decided to wear a black skirt instead.  I thought I'd go with what is in fact my most favourite colour pairing even, black and white. There was a time in my life where 99% of my clothing was black and white with very little colour.  I just found it so easy to wear and still do, but do know that colour does amazing things for me.

Black and white is always nice
I could not decide what to wear on my arm but since I wore my triple string of pearls, I decided to go with the pearl and gold bracelet set to add a little something of a different 'colour'.

The days of uncertain weather

Autumn snuck up on us .. its been toying with us with promising of cooler weather but today, the temperatures started dropping.  Since our offices were like an oven yesterday I thought I'd get away with a last stab at Summer outfit.

Contempo
I went to do my vitamin shopping after work yesterday and had to pop into my favourite stores across the way from Dischem.  There were some interesting bits about and I behaved and picked up this set of bracelets at Contempo.   There were some interesting items in the store and I managed to behave and not bring anything else home with me ... but it was difficult.
There are such pretty knits, jeans and jackets in the stores.  With winter nipping at our heels, the stores will be doing serious winter trade this weekend.  I'm glad I've washed my coats and jackets and am as prepared for the cold as I can be.

A quick dash on Sunday ... Camo shirt

Yesterday, before the kids got back home, we headed off to buy a longer telephone cable, so I got a chance to look at a few stores (only three – oh okay maybe five!!) (okay, we did go into Truworths Man, Mr. Price, Woolworths and Ackermans – and I showed G-man a jacket in the entrance to Truworths) and one shoe store … I’m really loving the bits of leather on the new clothing in store.  Contempo has a lovely little shift dress in black or red that has a little leather and stud detail … they’ve added a polo neck underneath it in the photo below, which is not my favourite type of top .  But to wear it for winter it makes sense, but possibly I’d go for more of a turtle neck top as opposed to the polo.
Contempo also had some snazzy leggings, jeans and tops and their usual offering of office appropriate items.  If you’re looking for a really corporate look at affordable prices, I’d recommend Contempo.  Their items are also mix and match and for a budget conscious lady, they’d do well visiting.
This lovely jacket, which is also available in blue as well as a black and white striped from Ackermans goes for R199.00.  I did not get to ‘feel’ the fabric but it sure looked okay from where I was viewing it.

A quick dash into Woolworths and I did not even get to roam the shoes section – but I spied a lovely short-ish cream trench with a leopard print lining that I’d love to try on.  I have seen online that they have it in a divine orange as well, but since I have an orange coat, I’d give it a miss.  Personally I’d love the cream coloured trench.

I’ve tried to find pictures online of the boots I saw but no luck as yet – I saw a long pair of black Bronx boots that I am lusting after and then a black ankle boot, with a cream toe cap and a line of gold between the two but I don’t remember the brand … I really do like them.

We took a quick stroll through Mr. Price looking for some camo tops for the little man, but we did not find any.  We looked at quite a few items for the boys, but then decided to rather take them with us as they’re at the age where they’re developing their own styles.  I agree with him totally.

A new addition to my wardrobe, yet to be worn, is this top from Mr. Price.  Graeme raised an eyebrow as he feels it’s a little ‘young’ and I’m in agreement, but I think if I style it right I could rock it.  Courteney felt it was not too young, but she was surprised by my choice.
So, do you think it’s too young for me to wear Camo?  I’ve seen ‘maturer’ bloggers sporting it.

A whole lot of catch ups

Wednesday 13 March 2013

I still have a few new items not yet shown on the blog, but I’m working at re-wearing and remixing items already in my wardrobe.
Today I decided to wear this dress at least once more before the colder weather arrives in earnest here in the southern
Hemisphere.

At first I wasn’t totally sure that this would look too good together but am quite impressed by how well it did work.

The Deets

Top – Truworths (part of a set)
Belt – unknown
Shoes – Madison

I choose to start this week off with a big bang of the colour purple topped off with some leopard.

I added an old necklace that has some animal print threaded through the chain, gold watch and sparkly earrings to ‘dress it up’.

I choose to keep the shoes simple and neutral and decided to wear my grey two toned toe cap shoes (I do love these shoes so).

The Deets :
Skirt – Mr Price
T-Shirt – Fashion Express
Cardigan - Truworths
Shoes – Rage
Necklace – Miladys
Earrings – Charlotte Russe (thanks Mz T.)
Watch – Lanco (was a gift Mz T got for her 18th birthday but she does not wear yellow gold)
Ring – bought when I lived in Germany and I can’t remember the store – but I remember the day L

Friday 8th March 2013
A few weeks back when I visited the Woolworths 50% off sale (as a card holder, we get an extra 10% over and above the 50%)
I indulged in three pairs of jeans as mine were due for replacing.  I bought these which have a cute design on the back pocket
(but we forgot to photograph it) with a coral tank and my think white cotton shirt.  To give it a kick, I added the kitten heel
Leopard print sling back shoes.
The Deets:
Jeans – Woolworths
Tank – Local chinese store
Shirt – Pick ‘n Pay
Belt – unknown – stolen from Mz T years ago
Shoes – Truworths
Necklace – I think its from Mildays

Thursday 7th March 2013

I felt super pretty in this outfit.  I just love this short and am still sorry that I did not buy more in different colours at the
time I purchased this one.  As I always say, its more green than the blue it shoes up as in the photos.
I choose to wear two necklaces, however, I see the bits on the shorter of the two did not show up too nicely.

The Deets:
Top – Makro
Skirt – Fashion Express
Shoes – Rage
Belt – Edgars
Necklaces - Accessorize

Hope everyone has been great.  Things have been a bit hectic, with a photo shoot this past weekend and a new PM at
work – I can’t believe it’s already Thursday tomorrow!!

Hope your week has been grand.

Leopard print on leopard print

Before you go any further I need to hear your growl.
Grrrrrr.
Leopard print on leopard print
This leopard print on leopard print outfit (which I think looked so much better in person) attracted lots of compliments today - it felt good - cause lets be honest here, if you don't like a compliment, why on earth are you publishing your images?  I love a compliment and I love giving compliments just as much as I like receiving them.
The shade of this cardigan is blue as below and not the green tinge to it as above.  At first I was hesitant about wearing the leopard print shoes, I thought it wouldn't work - but I put on of these one and one of my blue Bronx sandals on and without a doubt, this pair of shoes won and luckily too as my tootsies are still not painted!

I ended up wearing my pumps, which I wear when driving, when I reached the store.  My feet were just too tired for anymore heels.

I bumped into my sister Norma, which I do often at the shopping centre up the road, and we had a quick coffee together.  I love having a coffee and a chat after work - it reminds of blkhm (before love, kids, husbands and marriage) when my girlfriends and I would meet after work and plan out evenings out.  Just for a few minutes I get to be 'just Wendy'.

Hope your day was stunning - remember to drop me a comment - I'd love your feedback and thoughts on my outfits and suggestions of how to improve.

FABruary Style Challenge : Day 18 : Featured earrings

Charlotte Russe Earrings

Floral peplum
Top : Fashion Express | Skirt : Nada | Shoes : Rage | Watch : Lanco | Ring : Mr. Price

Floral peplum with a grey skirt

Grey ombre shoes

Todays challenge is Featured earrings ... I do think these from Charlotte Russe would be 'featured' enough - don't ya?  Taryn gave them to me when she was here, along with another pair, bangles and more.  She spoilt me rotten.

Todays outfit is a remix ... my grey Nada uniform skirt and my 'happy' peplum top with my grey ombre courts.

A quick and simple Monday outfit.

I'm linking up at the every wonderful Patti over at Not Dead Yet Style for Visible Monday.

Purple pencil and denim with a halo

Purple Pencil Skirt
Skirt :  Mr. Price | Tank top : Truworths | Shoes : ShoeCity | Ring : Truworths | Necklace : Silver Company, Eastgate | Bracelets : Charlotte Russe | Denim Shirt :

Denim Shirt and pearls bracelets

I do so love the fabric of this skirt.  Its a stretchy t-shirt knit and just sits like a pj on me.  Possibly not a good thing, but it doesn't ride, doesn't dig, doesn't turn around or any crazy stuff.  I wish all my skirts were this comfortable.

I'm having a little bloggers block this evening so I'm going to run along and get some things knocked off of my 'to do' list.

Hope your Tuesday was great.

Tan and White

The mug was a gift from my ex and his wife ... it says 'coffee and shoes makes everything better'

As I mentioned, I have promised to try and wear items I haven't worn in a while by restyling.  I haven't worn this skirt for a while as it was a wee bit tight, but dropping just a kg makes a difference over the hip area for me ;-).

Tan skirt and white ruffle top

Details
Skirt : Mr Price  |  Shirt :  Truworths |  Belt : Edgars | Necklace : Gift from Miz T | Shoes : Chinese Store |
Ring : Truworths
I haven't worn either of these items for months ... but do take note of the new shoes ... they're the ones Schatz bought me for Christmas.  Its the first time I've worn them and of course, new shoes are always a little challenging.  My necklace was finally fixed when Miz T came to visit so at last I could wear it again.
Photo bomber
I had originally planned to wear a navy and white striped t-shirt and the lace blazer, but then decided to go with this top instead.  At least I have another outfit idea.

I hope your Wednesday was amazing ... here's to a stylish and fabulous day.

Mr. Price has Peplums!

Looking for an inexpensive way to trend-up your wardrobe this New Year?

Mr. Price has an awesome selection of gorgeous Peplums at amazing prices.  They are great for disguising a little 'muffin-top' that us older ladies are prone too and look good irrespective of age.  I like that you can dress it down with jeans and dress it up with a smart pencil skirt ... add a little belt or blingy brooch and you're good to go.

Since I like items that I can wear winter through summer, these are also great under a smart blazer when the weather cools down.  That in my book make the price truly awesome.
