Blue peplum and a statement necklace

Oooh, looking serious while dodging the setting afternoon sun and keeping an eye on my lively photographer, Jarod.

Accessorize Necklace                                                                                                        Makro Shoes

WHEN:  October 3, 2013 : Thursday

THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS:
Peplum : Mr Price (Last season)
Skirt : Jet (Last season)
Necklace : Accessorize

THE BASICS :
Shoes : Makro

THE DAY PLAN : I had nothing beyond pc and studio work planned but really felt like dressing up a little more than usual.

THE VERDICT : Schatz liked this look a lot and said I looked classy ... I aim to please the man.  You may remember that I took his shock at the striped dress quite badly and was in fact surprised by his reaction ... today I got the total opposite, the only thing that may have surprised him more would have been a ball gown, or maybe a dominatrix outfit ;-).

Thankfully peplums are still on trend this season.  One of the things about living in the southern hemisphere and watching the styles in the North, is that you know if what's in your closet is still on trend by the time the season changes.

I only wore this peplum about two or three times last summer, but cannot seem to find a photo of myself in it, so I'm happy to get a bit more wear out of.  I decided to pair it with this black and white skirt of mine, which I also wore but a handful of times and that I love.

Here's to Happy Spring and Autumn days.

Polka dot hose

Red black and cream with polka dot hose
I have not worn this skirt in ages.  I started off wanting to wear my white and black polka dot shirt, but it did not look too great together, which had me back at the wardrobe trying to find something else.  I then thought the cream and black cardigan would go well. Overall I'm satisfied with this look, but I don't think the necklace was the best choice.  Although I'd like this skirt to be a little shorter, the length is not negotiable as there is a pleated design in the back and it would look silly in the back if it were shorter.

I got to say goodbye to two gents from our client - a little bit of reality settling in.  Tomorrow may be interesting.

Today we were chatting about alternate forms of employment.  This has my head whirling at this point.  There are possibilities and opportunities, its just to hunt them down.  I'll let you know what happens one way or the other, but as off tomorrow, I'm on a little bit of break while I search and plot and plan.

Leopard print pencil skirt and white

Despite this skirt doing the twist the entire time I wore it last, its behaved really well today – it may have been doing the twist due to the shapewear I had on underneath.

I much prefer the leopard print with colour as opposed to plain white.  When it’s colder, I’ll definitely have to wear it with my red blazer (although its chilly in our offices, it would be too warm at this point).  I wanted to wear my yellow and gold necklace for a pop of colour, but then all the pieces slipped off and I just did not have the time to string it.  I have a sneaking feeling that someone had tried it on, the pieces had fallen off and they’d put them back on, but then not realised that the pieces were muddled.  Initially I had restrung them, but then when I was attempting to clip it, it slipped so the pieces fell off – ah dang, so I grabbed the pearls.

I can’t believe that its already Thursday – is it just me, or are the weeks whizzing by at a frantic pace for anyone else?  Tonight I have lots of editing to do … the real job starts now and I still need to finish the photos of my nephew and children.  A colleague also asked me to take photos of him for a website … we’re going to go outside at lunch time tomorrow and snap a few – any practise I can get is worth it.

Well friends, that’s all for the moment … hope your Thursday is stunning.

Royal blue on a Monday

I’m back!!!  I had a good little blog-cation although unintentional, I was simply not inspired to blog and enjoyed the break, but I am back.
I work hard at watching what comes out of my mouth, so you can imagine how difficult it is not to say ‘blue Monday’ … but I am wearing blue on this pretty Monday morning, the sky is clear, the temperature is pleasant and I have work.
Our weekend was relaxed and mostly spent at home.  I did take Jarod shopping on Saturday morning as he had outgrown his sneakers and said he needed another pair of long pants.  It’s amazing that his feet have suddenly increased by two shoe sizes.  He got two pairs of casual shoes, a pair of relaxed cotton trousers and two jackets.  Courteney was with us and had found the pants which lead him to say he did not like them.  Right!  He also tried on two pairs of jeans neither of which fitted nicely and as you could have guessed, the trousers Ccourts found fitted perfectly – so he took them.  They’re having such a power struggle at the moment and I am at loss as far as how to deal with it.   Sigh!  All in all though, we had a good time and they were pleasant with each other.   Next weekend it’s shopping with Liam.
I indulged a little with a cheap camo t-shirt from Mr. Price for all of R30.00 (I love bargains like that) and two tops (the one I’m wearing today) from Edgars.
Courteney and I both gravitated toward this shirt as we found the colour captivating.
I will be able to wear it with jeggings and my skinny jeans for a more relaxed look as it is fairly long.
I do love these roll sleeve shirts that are in every store at the moment.
I now have one in plum, this blue one and a black one with studs on the collar that I picked up on Saturday.
All of them can be worn to the office and casually.
Blue and gold accessories
I could not decide on a necklace and mainly that was because I was looking for something gold and short and although I have a costume jewellery necklace that is gold (and more than 16 years old) I don’t wear it anymore as it has tarnished – maybe its time to look for a replacement.  Then I thought of wearing my ‘collar’ but seem to have misplaced it which leads me to the fact that I urgently need to do more sorting out in my closet.  Firstly though, and it’s a huge priority, I need to replace my rail which looks like its had a long hard night of partying as its leaning more and more to the right.
La details : Shirt : Edgars (Merien Hall) | Skirt : Truworths | Shoes : Ackermans | Bracelets : Miladys | earrings and belt – unknown|
I’m linking up with Patti over at Not Dead Yet Style for her Visible Monday #93 … this colour allows you to be anything but ‘invisible’.
Happy Monday y’all … please drop me a note in the comments so that I can return the visit.

Denim, Paisley and rolling grey clouds

Denim shirt, Pearl necklace, Statement necklace
 Necklace : Truworths | Watch : Diva | Ring : American Swiss

Denim skirt, Paisley Skirt, Two tone shoes, Grey cap toe shoes
 Shirt : Chinese Store | Skirt : Truworths | Shoes : Rage | Belt : Woolworths

We woke up to gorgeous grey, cloudy skies this morning. The clouds were heavily pregnant with the promise of rain. Driving into the office I watched as clouds gobbled up the Hillbrow Tower and it promised to rain for most of day - but it drizzled on and off. The rain finally arrived just before it was time to head on home which had people dashing out of the office in the hopes of racing ahead of the rain. Lucky for me, I seemed to be between the storm as Courteney said it rained so hard before I got home it looked like it was hailing.

With the weather turning chilly I made an adapted version of the Tupperware Curry Chicken Casserole which went down a treat in our house.  I think we're all ready for soups, stews and curry weather.

I'm happy to report that my coats are at the ready should the weather become colder.

Lovely leopard print

Wicked purple on leopard print which I love together was my choice for s rather grey weather day ... I am quite surprised just how 'neutral' leopard print is.   But this skirt turns all the time  ... anyone know how to stop ait doing that?

On viewing the pics my lack of motivation to exercise  is rather evident ... anyone got some motivation and enthusiasm to gift me?   But then, it is a lycra tank and of course, it clings to every little lumpy bumpy ... lol.

Chiffon sleeves

Chiffon slit sleeved top ... and animal print
Top : Markro | Skirt : Truworths  |  Shoes : Truworths  |  Watch : Tempo  |  Belt : Edgars

Did you see?  Did you notice?  Its a photo with me wearing my glasses ... its seldom that I take pictures wearing my glasses, I don't know why I don't like taking pictures with them on though.

I so wish I'd bought more of these tops in different colours as I love it but the last time I was in Makro they did not have any.  When I originally bought this one, there were other colours.  But looking at it, I think it would be easy enough to fashion the sleeves onto some 'tank' tops myself ... now that's an idea - anyone have a few spare hours to give me to do this ... lol.

This evening Schatz and I are going on a little evening course (3 hours) at the Academy of Creative Photography called 'Intro to Manual Mode'.  I bought the offer on Groupon and couldn't resist when I saw it - I'm trying to encourage him to step out of the comfort zone of 'creative modes' on his camera and embrace Manual mode.  When he takes pictures on my camera, he always moves back to the 'safe' zone and I understand his hesitation, but know the 'liberation' that comes from using Manual.

Hope your day is fabulous.

Triple whammy Wednesday

This is becoming a bit of a habit I'd say, although, not intentionally.

Monday night was class, Tuesday I was just tired and busy and well, here I am on a wacky Wednesday.  It's been insane at work, I have put in 40 minutes of studying so far this week and I'm writing next Thursday = S.T.R.E.S.S.E.D.  With our new Project Manager having started last week, it's a new boss and new ways of doing things ... and with the other secretary on leave - I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof.

So onto the looks ... I laddered my stockings and could not find many options in store the last two days.  I don't think the dotty one's looked so great - but well, they had to do.

Details : Dress :Contempto | Cardigan : -- | Hose : Falke | Shoes : Merien Hall @ Edgars | and I think this is the first time I've ever taken photos with my glasses on.

February 10th & February 11th

Thursday 10th saw me in this outift ...
it's only the second time I've worn this skirt and the first time I've worn this shirt which I bought close on two months ago.  I'm still iffy about this skirt as it creases so badly.

D.d.details : Shirt - Truworths, Skirt - Legit, Belt - Woolworths and sandals from a lifetime ago - Edgars.

Friday 11th I wore my new sale acquisition of skinny jeans and this delicious green t-shirt from Woolworths at 50%, with an extra 10% for card holders and whats even nicer, our school gets a little more because I get these discounts on our My School Card.  Everyone wins!

D.d.details : Shirt, Jeans and Necklace - Woolworths, Booties - Mr. Price.

Let me just add, we had a fire drill and I walked down 6 flights in these killer heels - fun fun fun.

Hope your week has been fabulously stylish.

March 1 - Magical March

I really wish I'd been able to photograph the pleat detail in the back of the skirt - it's gorgeous.

I don't know how many years it has been since I've worn a white skirt, but when I saw this one in Truworths I fell in love - and whoop whoop it was on sale.  I should take clearer pics of the lace, its gorgeous.

D.d.details :  Top is from Studio W at Woolworths, Sandals from Truworths, Belt from Meltz, necklace and earrings set from Truworths.

February 3rd

I had such a hard time getting a good picture again this afternoon.  Why is it that some days it just doesn't gel?  I think my main complaint is the angle, it just seems off ... but it's better than no photo I guess.

I was not totally thrilled with this look but had run out of time this morning ... I do prefer to have a little try on the night before, or at least make a decision on what to wear, but was tired and did not get around to it last night ... anyways, I'd rate this at about a mediocre 5.5 ... lol.

The skirt is remixed ... worn sometime last year and is from Truworths, the t-shirt is from Fashion Express, Jacket from Mr. Price and shoes I don't remember now.  Necklace is really old from Honey Accessories and is probably from around 1999 at least.

But hey hey  hey, tomorrow is Friday - yippee weekend.

Hope your day is fabulous,
Tschuess

November 10 - Whacky Wednesday

Just a side note : I tend to be a bit of rebel and a wee bit stubborn ... our office is pushing us to wear a black pullover on Wednesday, which I would consider doing if it were not made of the cheapest yukkiest nylon 'knit' ever in creation.

 Details
Skirt and shirt - Legit (I usually don't  buy there as I find their styles are very 'young' but this skirt was hanging on my ankles begging to go home with me - who can resist that kind of beggine?)
It has a criss-cross lace on the 'almost' waist - I think they should have gone all the way to the top of the skirt, so it does look a little odd at the top and I like the stitching at the bottom - rather a military style look to the skirt.
This is one I'll definitely wear in winter with my new jacket G-man bought me about a month ago.
Necklace - Contempo
Shoes - Brand = Juliette
Ring - Truworths (big and chunky - but it's a little loose :-( )

November 3 - Whacky Wednesday

Yesterday I dashed home, changed (so that I was wearing the lightest dress possible) and dashed off to sign-up at Weigh-Less ... and as you may have guessed, I did not take outfit photos.

The original outfit for today featured a cami and a while ruffled shirt and I was inspired by another blogger, but for the life of me can't think of her name.  But, as I was ironing my shirt, I saw a mark right on the front left and it was not possible for me to wear it, so I went with option two of the brown knit top below.  I will still do the white shirt eventually.

But, here is today's look after all ... featuring an attempt at a sexy pose .. L.O.L.
Top - Essense
Skirt - Edgars
Shoes - Makro
Necklace - the ever wonderful Miz T

A short and sweet outfit for the day ... another a-line skirt.
It fits them delicious hips perfectly.
 Attempting a smile
The "sexy pose" attempt just for my G-man.
