A black dress and a tie front shirt

In my continuing attempts at getting more wear out of my wardrobe and trying new items together, this is what I put together today. 

I love this dress, however, its so low cut in front and I've battled with that since I bought it.  I've tried wearing a cami underneath, I've tried closing it with a brooch and a safety pin, then I tried these little nylon goodies that clipped on your bra and cover up the gals -  however, I found that they would creep up, stick to my skin with static and simply was not working.  Sigh!

Today I tried it with a statement necklace first, then with a little lace bra but still too much of the gals was showing, so I then decided to try it with this shirt.  It worked the best so far.

High-low hem

I'm linking up with Patti over at Not Dead Yet Style for her Invisible Monday - I think these gorgeous new sandals are super 'un-invisible'.

 

I did no preparation for this weeks outfits, much less did I even think about them this weekend.  So, this morning, I opened the wardrobe and one of the first items I saw was this high low hemmed dress.  Hmmmm thought I, I can wear it with my new shoes and this little short sleeved jacket.  It was so hot this weekend, I was convinced our offices would be like saunas today.  However, without a jacket, this dress is not quite office appropriate.  Since I work in a very relaxed environment, with people slopping around the building in really tatty jeans, I could probably get away without a jacket, but I'd feel super uncomfortable the entire day.

I previously wore this dress while the weather was a little cooler with a long sleeved jacket and red court heels.  I quite like it with the blue though, but black and red is always hot in my opinion.

This is proving to be an interesting work week already and I have taped my little '5 Ways to be happier at work' as received from Jon Gordon at the bottom of my screen to remind myself to be positive

1. Monday - To focus on what I 'get to do' instead of 'have to'.
2. Tuesday - Don't expect my boss and co workers to make me happy (I already know that - but it's a good reminder all the same)
3.  Wednesday - Don't seek happiness - share strenghts, decide to work with passion & purpose.
4.  Thursday - Focus on excellence instead of success.
5.  Friday - Celebrate together - build a positive team/support group.

March 1 - Magical March

I really wish I'd been able to photograph the pleat detail in the back of the skirt - it's gorgeous.

I don't know how many years it has been since I've worn a white skirt, but when I saw this one in Truworths I fell in love - and whoop whoop it was on sale.  I should take clearer pics of the lace, its gorgeous.
