Skinny jeans, nude wedges, lace and a statement necklace

Statement Necklace

Today I rushed off to drop off a dress that my kitty had ripped and my 'bandage' skirt that was coming apart at Mom for mending.  When I got home I showered, dressed and then had two phone calls.  The day just slipped by in a blur.

I had no intention of doing much else outside the house today so I kept it rather casual.

THE DEETS :
Necklace : Truworths
T-shirt : Edgars
Jeans : Identity
Wedges : Fashion Express
Handbag : Gift from my sister Norma for Christmas
Bracelets : Contempo
Ring : Bought in 2005 in Germany

White denim, nude heels and a crochet bolero

WHEN : Tuesday 15th October

THE DEETS :
Capris: Woolworths
Cami: Contempo
Bolero : CCI (Cheap Chinese Import - Wording stolen from sisters friend)
Sandals : Fashion Express
Bracelet : Bought at a store in Graskop
Earrings : Truworths

THE DAY PLAN : Besides working on the final edits of the photos of little Lisa, I had planned to get some reading of my current module done.  I'm wanting to get both of these things finished by the end of the week.

I decided to put up the tripod and quickly take my pictures of the outfit as I find that by the afternoon its a bit mad in our house, so I decided to quickly do them.  Took all of about 5 minutes in total.

I love these capris, so much so that I also bought a red and mint pair when they were in store and which have all been featured many times on the blog.  They're comfy enough to sit in the entire day.  The sandals I bought about a week back.  I wanted wedge nude sandals as they're so versatile and you can really wear them with everything.  Since I'm a 'retrenched recession`ista reworking her wardrobe' now, I'm really not shopping much, but I can't resist a little purchase here and there.  I bought these after my sister had bought a face cream that I had in my stock basket, so I didn't feel too guilty.  I wanted a pair of nude sandals and when I saw these, except for the brushed suede finish, they were perfect - the height of the heel and the colour.

My cute crochet bolero has maybe made one appearance on the blog.  Schatz bought it for me and I can't remember the exact store, but I'm pretty sure it was at a Chinese store.  I really like it, but find I'm challenged on how to style it.  Today it seemed to fit well.

Well pretty ones - thats all for me for today.  I'm now headed off to collect my nephew, then my son and then to drop my nephew and mother at their home.

Have a magnificent day now.

What makes your heart melt?

My thirteen year old son still thinks I'm pretty awesome!  Bless his little soul.  He's an observant, happy, positive soul and those are of the qualities I admire most in people.

We were doing his party invitations and he could not get the printer to work, so I came up and did some fiddling and got them printed.  As he passed me he stops and says one of the reasons why he loves me is that I have "mad" skills.  Ah, I fear when it all fades, but bask in it right now.   But, it just melts my heart.

~::~ ~::~ ~::~

So I've been editing my little heart out and am about done and have promised myself to have it all delivered by the end of the week as next week I'll be concentrating on my course work.  I'm eager to get more done.  Every little bit of acknowledge I acquire, although initially sends me reeling, helps me become better and hone my skills.

I'm still around, just finding that the hours pass so quickly and before I know it, I'm cooking dinner and then there's little chance I'll do the photos then.  But then, Spring is on the way - so maybe I'll pick up my game then with the longer hours of daylight.

I'm due for a haircut and colour and need a pedicure before the sandal weather arrives and a little bit of colour wouldn't go amiss either.

I'm loving all the stripes that are in abundance in the stores and can't wait for the warmer weather to show off a new striped dress and t-shirt that I bought last month and the shirt dress I finally found at an awesome price.

imageI bought this dress in black as the branch I went into only had only had one green dress which was too small and I was leaving saw one hanging in their window, so I raided their window display to get the black one.  At least the black will be more versatile in my opinion than the green.   I'm also quite happy that peplums are still in for the coming season.  I did not wear them quite as often as I feel I should have last Summer.

Well folks, its time to get dinner started ... hope you're had a wonderful Hump Day.

Casual Friday

Skinny jeans, boots, grey t-shirt and red statement necklace
Fridays look featured my new statement necklace.  I love it.
I bought this jacket at Fashion Express last weekend and was so eager to wear it.  I love how this look came together as it looked casual but polished.

At the zoo

Graeme bought a Groupon voucher for a visit to the Pretoria Zoo.
We saw a white tiger, the bear having fun in water, we saw reptiles, monkeys, gorillas, cheetahs, snakes, sharks (something I remember from when I was a kid and we visited the Zoo with our headmaster, who happened to be our moms boyfriend for a time) reptiles, birds, deers, seals, a parrot that said 'hello' and more.

This morning my legs are sore - I can't remember when last I walked so darn much, but I sure realised how unfit I am.  I'm considering following the USN 12 week body makeover.  I will include the eating plan from Weigh-Less as I can't imagine myself eating the three meal options for dinner for a straight 12 weeks!

Todays outfit is a remix ... my grey Nada uniform skirt and my 'happy' peplum top with my grey ombre courts.

Red capris and a floral peplum

Capris and a floral peplum
Peplum : Fashion Express
Capris : Woolworths
Shoes : ShoeCity
Earrings : Foschini
Bracelets : Charlotte Russe & Various others

Schatz was still half asleep and shaky when he tooks my pics this morning, so apologies for the bluriness of the pic.  I am feeling in the holiday/weekend spirit so decided to wear my capris.  I find this top to be happy - the colour and the print just looks happy and I enjoy feeling happy.

Last night was our monthly Sistas Dinner.  With it being December, we gave out Christmas gifts.  I got such gorgeous gifts.  I'm hoping to get photos from my sisters soon to share.

Norma gave us each a little wooden crate filled with yummy goodies like biscuits and sweeties as well as a three piece cake set.  Its quite different and definitely gorgeous.
Noleen gave us each a wall hanging with a poem on it and a gorgeous clock.
Lynn gave us a note book (mine has an image of the Eiffel Tower on it), scarf, sweeties and hand cream.

I gave Noleen and Lynn each a pendant and for Norma I got a bracelet and I added in a little Christmas fruitcake and a minature candycane.  I also brought Christmas Crackers for us to share.  I always enjoy watching the other patrons faces ... as curious as they are about what we're getting up to as curious as I am about them :-).

While I was out to dinner I got a message from home saying that our young cat was missing.  Schatz and the kids searched the closets and he went around the garden with a torch, but she was nowhere to be found.  Luckily this morning the neighbours domestic told our Felicia that they had taken her to the SPCA - she's home safe and sound but she's such a little adventurer we're going to have to keep a close eye on her.  She's also due to be 'fixed', so we'd best get that done soonest ... however cute a little litter of kittens would be, I so don't want to fall in love with even more animals.

I guess as I need now is a Santa bag and I could look like a southern hemisphere Santa helper :0).

Happy day to you

High-low on Friday

Dress : Mr. Price
Cardi : Fashion Express
Belt : Meltz
Shoes : Shoe City
Bracelets : Various
Necklace : Miladys
Ring : Truworths
Shades : Ray Ban

I opted not to wear my usual jeans/capris this fine Friday morning.  Schatz mentioned as he was readying himself to leave that the temp is expected to reach around 30 Degrees celcius ... so I wanted cool, flowing and free form.

I haven't been so happy to reach Friday in ages.  Its been a long three weeks.

Tomorrow I'm having breakfast with the Justine Cosmetics team ... I haven't seen them in about 3 years and to be honest, I don't know what my Business Leader looks like.  Then the evening we're having dinner for my Schatz and brother-in-law Gordon as it's both their birthdays.  Sadly I'm not able to go with Schatz on the run to Zimbanathi Project tomorrow, but my little guy Liam will be going with which will be good for him to see how far less priveledged children live.

Today marks Jarods last day at Primary School.  A teacher took a photo of us together but sadly its blurred :-(.

This dress has made at least two previous appearance on the blog : Once with red and another time also with blue.

Stripe on stripe

Stripe on stripe with denim
T-shirt : Edgars
Blazer : Truworths
Denim skirt: Fashion Express
Shoes : Legit
Necklace : Miladys
Bracelet : Truworths

I decided to try something a little different with stripes on stripes ... my mother will probably shake her head and tsk tsk as I know that mixing patterns like this is a no-go in her fashion rules.  I at first was going to wear my denim shirt over and tie it in front, but it looked too 'Friday' for a Thursday.

I was rather undecided about my shoes as well ... denim wedges - nope didn't look right, taupe wedges, nope ... so I ended up with the black pumps, they just seemed more businesslike and if you knew how demotivated and dog tired I am, you'd understand that wearing anything too laid back could be detrimental to my performance ... lol.

I had a serious panic this morning when I got to the office!  I had completed all the documentation for Courteneys Immigrant Visa Application, taken the photos and got the Police Clearance Certificate.  I scanned the documents in and sent them to their Dad ... who thankfully noticed that I had not gotten the little lady to sign the application.  I called the Post Office who still had the letter on site and Courts and Schatz were in the center as they were heading to gym ... so the lady kindly allowed her to open the envelope, sign the document and it is now being sent.  My poor head is throbbing as I get really tense when I screw up like this.  I am way overdue for a break!

Here's hoping your day is simply fabulous ... thanks for coming by and do say Hi.

Floral peplum with white 3/4 jeans ... on a Monday

Woolworths white denim capris

Floral peplum, with white capris and coral floral heeled wedges

Top : Fashion Express
Pants : Woolworths (R225.00)
Shoes : Meltz (ModaScapa) (R169.00 - bargain)
Bangles : Various
Earrings : Truworths

I feel fabulous in this outfit.  I have hummed and haaaed about buying white pants and finally decided to go for it.  Oh my, I'm so going back to Woolies for a few more pairs of these in other shades, they are super comfy and if you have hips like me, they fit so well over the area, not pulling or biting ... divine.  So all you curvy gals, get to woolies now and grab a pair.  You'll get your moneys worth of wear out of them over the summer and with Christmas, New Year, pool parties and braais on the way, they'll work for all the outings including dressing them up for work.

The shoes stole my heart on Saturday when I passed by Meltz.  We'd gone to buy Liam a desk and then stopped off for lunch, which took us past Meltz, so I had to go and have a look.  They had these shoes in Teal and Taupe as well but Schatz said I should go for these coral ones.  They're just such 'happy' shoes.  I am smitten.  My domestic worker squealed when she saw them ... I think it we wore the same size shoe she'd simply redistribute half my shoes to her closet.

I did some birthday present shopping yesterday and also some Christmas decorations shopping.  I need to add a few more items to my table centre piece and put a nail in the door to hang the wreath.  I am going to start getting the decorations out of storage and sorting through them.  I dont' think I 'need' to buy any more decorations, but the 'want' may take over.

So let me get started with the other needs of the day - hope your Monday is fabulous!

I'm joining up at Pattis Visible Monday over at Not Dead Yet Style as I really feel any but invisible in this outfit today.

Bright 'n breezy

I took my photos before I left for work this morning.  I had a real early start to my day.  I was up and exercising before 5am ... was ready by 6 and even made G-man and myself scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast - that does not happen on a work morning.

It was breezy out this morning at 6:20am

Skirt : Fashion Express
Top : Truworths
Sandals : Truworths
Beads : Edgars
Earrings : (I think Mz T gave them to me)
Bangles : Edgars

Exams start on Thursday for Miss Bean and the boys start writing next week ... we're hurtling towards the end of the school year way too quickly and before I know it, my kiddies will be jetting off to Houston again.  At least they'll get to see their Dad and sister and they'll be there to celebrate her 21st with her.

Well, my day is done.  Tomorrow promises to be a little crazy at this point, so I'd best get my beauty sleep.

Keep it 'Simply Sassy'.

Feeling fab on Friday

After noticing that a number of the maturer ladies whose blogs I visit were knotting their shirts, I decided to give it a go myself.

I think it looked pretty sassy and overall, I loved this outfit and rate it around a 9/10 for a casual Friday look.  I usually wear jeans on a Friday and sometimes a denim skirt.  I wore the other denim skirt I own about twice and that's because it just fit totally wrong.  Now this one ... fits perfectly and it may well make many more appearances.

So it's weekend again already and I have more of my decluttering and sorting on my list.  I also need to colour my hair, take my son to The Glen tomorrow for part of his Christmas present.  I got the laundry up to date last night, so there's just the days things to wash and the towels which we do on a Saturday morning.  Other times on my list like paint nails, sort out clothing and do some work on the month end report also feature.

I hope your weekend is fabulous whatever your plans on ... remember keep it simple and keep in sassy.

I had a good day.  A fairly busy day ... even a little interesting.  There's lots going on in our Project.

Today I had every intention of wearing my new 'lust' shoes that I got on Friday, but since our clients were coming in for a meeting, I thought I'd put wearing them off for a few days.  So, the outfit started with this jacket and grew around it.  I was going to wear a tan skirt, but it was a wee bit too tight, then I thought of my black skirt and white jacket - but the jacket is still not ironed.  So, when I went back into my wardrobe, I saw this shift dress and decided to give it an airing as I have not worn it in ages as I've been wanting to take it in so that the tailor can make it a little slimmer fitting - but I have not gotten around to doing that ... and that's how I arrived at this look.

This weekend was spent doing some more decluttering and tidying in my room.  I also got G-man to finally hang the mirror in the lounge and move the other big mirror upstairs.  I moved things around in my room and sorted out my shoes.  I'm feeling so much better.  I'm also working on minimising the paper clutter ... I've started with the magazines ... and did a little work on my accounts.  I've tried wherever possible to get my statements via email.  Some places are very efficient and others are sadly lacking.

Thanks to Linda-Maree for the link to Contempos competition ... I entered :-)

Well, that's all for today folks .. thanks for passing by.

Til next time ... Keep it Simple, Keep it Sassy.

Ladylike lace

I enjoyed this look today.  I first wore this skirt just after I purchased it while it was still 'winter', the jacket has made it onto my blog at least twice or maybe three times before and it's another item I don't wear that often, yet I'm usually complimented when I wear blue.  I don't seem to gravitate easily towards blue as a colour choice for myself which may be the reason why it's not a staple item in my closet for me.  Overall, I was fairly pleased with the look.  I took my photos just before bedtime and G-man still commented on getting a lipstick kiss ... lol ... although the lipstick is barely visible.

Skirt : Exact
Tank : Essense at Truworths
Jacket : Fashion Express
Shoes : Legend at Makro
Necklace : Miladys  (Did you know that Miladys is part of the Mr Price Group?)
Belt : Meltz

Did you notice, for the first time in ages my toenails are even painted.  I love them painted, but I so don't enjoy painting them myself.  Ms T used to do that for me often while she was still home.  I have tried to convince G-man and Courts to paint them for me, but to date have been totally unsuccessful.  What would a beautician charge to paint them?

Tonight we had our monthly 'sisters' dinner.  It started off grand.  The food was looking grand, until I got a third of the way into my 'chicken pocket' and found it was totally uncooked ... and then Noleen found the middle of her potate was all brown.  She about tossed her meal when she saw my raw chicken.  It's sitting in the back of my throat right now and my stomach does a little lurch every time I think of the food.  So disappointing ... at least the focaccia as a starter was really good.

Well folks, that's all from me for today ... I think I need some Eno's right about now.

'Til next time ... be Fabulous.

Bright in blue

I haven't taken my pics since last week and yesterday I did not feel to grand in my outfit which consisted of a black skirt and a gorgeous tan and black striped top I was given as a birthday gift, althought it looked okay, I just didn't feel to fabulous so I did not photograph it.

Today I did enjoy this outfit and got more than a few compliments at the mall after work.  Now who doesn't like being told they look good?  Honestly?  We all enjoy it.

So it's a cheap outfit all in all, nothing was more than around R150.00 and I think those were my shoes which G-man bought as part of my Christmas present last year.

 T-shirt : Mr. Price
Skirt : Jet
Jacket : Fashion Express
Shoes : Contempo (12/2010)
Necklace & Earrings : Bought at the China Mall

Now the thinking cap is on with regard to what to wear to work tomorrow as it's Secretaries Day and we're being taken out for lunch.

I'm so very tired as this morning I was woken up at 02:20 and yesterday morning at 03:30 and could not fall back to sleep.  Tonight I'm even more tired as I had a vicious migraine in the middle of the day - oh please let me sleep tonight.

Not much other news, got a kitty sleeping on my desk, boys sent to bed early for being nasty with each other and Miss Bean watching tv - maybe I should just go and have a nice shower, get an outfit together and go to bed real early.

Thanks for visiting ... be fabulous now.

... pretty in pink and some other stuff

I know, I know, I've been scarce, but here I am at last.  Those in Jozie know that summer arrived this week, it's the usual case of zero to hero with our weather.  How insane, not even two weeks ago we were freezing and just like that, the temps are up by over 10 degrees.

I've really been battling with my photos.  Todays pic - awesome outfit (except for the lining of my skirt that seemed to grow and grow), but then the hair is sitting in all funny directions behind my glasses, which I really should have just left inside, but then I can't see the screen ... lol.  So, forgive the mad woman hair ;-)

Here's a couple of outfits starting with Tuesday August 30th

Adoring look on dog's face - fake - she thought I had food... but in honesty, she does this pose often so it almost makes me believe I'm loved by her.
