Black and White stripes frills and a little yellow

The deets : Skirt and booties : Jet | Top : Edgars | Cardi : Truworths | Arm candy : Contempo | Earrings : Sass Diva

I enjoyed this outfit - I just don't like the booties with this all that much.  I saw some gorgeous ankle boots which have more of a slit in the front, which I'm sure would give a better 'shape' to my leg and I'm contemplating buying them, but they are super high and I'm beginning to battle a little with the really high shoes ... but don't you dare call me old.  I had to do a little walking this afternoon so I wanted to wear comfy shoes and these booties fit the bill.

Miss Boo's Immigration Visa was ready for collection, so I headed off to Sandton to collect it.  Since you cannot park in the Consulate, you need to park nearby and walk ... which for me is Sandton City - and of course, its an excuse to walk through TopShop, Trenery, Zara and more on your way back to the car.  Oh dear, oh dear ... its difficult to behave - I kinda sorta got it right.

Hope your Monday - oh I mean Tuesday (mine was a Monday on Tuesday because yesterday was a holiday for us) was fabulous.

Black, pearls and denim on denim

A quick comfortable Sunday outfit to run to the stores.

Add caption
Details : Jeans : Woolworths  Knit : Legit

One of the furry little criminals, namely Marshy ... with the look she gave me in the previous photo, I simply had to grab her up and take a picture with her.  She's a rather unaffectionate kitty, but we do love her all the same.

Schatz and I dropped the troupe off at their Gran for a visit and headed on out to buy new cat litter trays and a baby bath for baby Joshua.  We ended up getting him quite a bit more than a bath.  When we called Felicia, she said she was starving, so we headed to the hospital with food.  While Graeme was dropping off, they said she's be able to leave soon - it ended up being almost 4 hours later, but the little sweetie is snuggled up safe and sound in his home with his Gogo staying with for the night.

Hope your Sunday was great.

Pinterest inspired

Did you read my previous post?  You did!  Kewl, then you may remember the three looks that have inspired me and one inspired todays outfit.    I love Pinterest for inspiration in EVERYTHING and am thrilled that most of my favourite bloggers post their outfits on Pinterest which makes keeping track of them so much easier.  Most days I spend a few minutes early in the morning checking out Pinterest to inspire my day - some inspirational quotes and some style inspiration.  I even have a 'secret board' where I post outfits that inspire me and that I have similar items in my closet to recreate.

This outfit has been inspired by ...

this outfit.  I swopped it around a little though.

I picked up this skirt at Jet on Saturday for a whopping R90.00 :-).  I bumped into my sister at The Glen and we went into Jet and I saw this skirt and another, however they did not have my size :-( in the other skirt.  I also got Lynn a lovely shirt that I'm looking forward to seeing on her.

These knit skirts are so darn comfortable I may never buy another in any other fabric.  I think I could have gotten away without the belt, or maybe a thinner belt, or maybe I should have tucked the cardigan in and worn the belt over the waist area.

That's all for now dear folks ... please leave me a comment and let me know you were here and so that I can return the visit.  Have a Happy Hump Day.

For the first time in ages I did some ironing and basic outfit planning last night.  This jacket is new to the blog despite that I bought it back in October but this is the first time I'm wearing it.  When we saw it in Jet Courteney insisted that I buy it.  It was really cheap and as with most cheap items, once washed and you get to ironing, you figure out the lack of attention to detail in the garment.  Not all cheap items are so, but this is one of those.  However, since its not an 'investment' item, I can overlook the shortcomings for the wears I will get out of it.

I spent a little time looking through my closet yesterday and must admit that I far too many items I've not yet worn or worn once only.  I really need to wear the things I have before adding anything new.  I may be putting myself on a little retail detail and only buy absolute essentials and basic items.  Since I'm trying to drop a few pounds as well, it may be a good time not to spend either.

This all brings me to some Style goals for the year of 2013 :

1.  Get more wear out what is already in my closet by mixing and matching before simply
adding and wear what I have not yet worn.
2.  Purchase essentials and basics only if necessary (I think replacing my snakeskin shoes is a
     necessity)
3.  Keep working at defining my personal style and keep out the rut and keep trying new
     colours.

Do you have goals for the year?

Black and white is always right

Black pleated skirt with white cut out sleeve top
Top : Woolworths
Skirt : Jet
Belt : Edgars
Shoes : Truworths
Watch : Diva
Necklace : Miladys

Its 10 am and the temperate in Johannesburg is sitting at 25°C/77°F ... its expected to reach as high as 33°C/91°F.  As I was dressing this morning, I initially choose a black and white pencil skirt, then decided it was going to be too hot, so I went for this cotton box pleated skirt as it is light and airy.  I also choose the loose top for the same reason.  The sleeves are rather pretty as they are lacy.  I dont' think this is my best look ever, but considering the impending heat ... its a better choice, the best would be to be lounging under the big tree in my garden with a book and tall beer shandy ... oh wait, its a little early for the shandy.

Hope you're warm or cool whatever your weather is for today.

Tuesdays LBD

LBD - Little black shift dress
Dress : Jet
Shoes : Truworths
Belt : EdgarsBangles & earrings :Mildays
Ring : Truworths

At 6:30 this morning I was already feeling the heat.  It could just be that I'd heard it is going to reach 32 Celcius that made me feel like I was already in the oven, but I changed three times because each outfit I put on made me feel hotter than the one before.  So I decide to just keep it simple and go with my LBD.

Luckily our aircons are behaving thus far today and we're not roasting.

Hope your Tuesday is marvellous.

The LBD and a haircut

This morning I decided to wear my LBD ... it hasn't made an appearance for a while. I kept it simple and sleek with my little 'lace' blazer and of course, I love wearing my Eiffel Tower pendant with this dress. In fact, I'd wear this necklace more often if it 'went' with everything.

Details : Dress : Jet | Blazer : Chinese store | Shoes : Legit | Necklace : Foschini | Bracelet : Charlotte Russe | Belt : Woolworths
Ooops, Schatz didn't tell me my fringe was messed up :-(

This morning my hair looked a lot less fancy - it was clipped up with a messy fringe. I tried most of the morning to get a hold of my hairdresser and was not expecting her to be able to see me this afternoon, but she was available, so I dashed off after work to get my hair cut. I could not find the pictures I'd seen on the web, so we discussed a little and came up with this style which is similar to what I'd seen and to what I'd had before. An angled layered bob with quite a bit of chopping.
When I got home the family were full of compliments and all said they like it. I'm happy with it - what do you think?

Ebony and Ivory

live together in perfect harmony ... (thanks Michael and Paul)

So todays outfit was quick and simple, ebony and ivory.

I picked up the t-shirt a week or so ago and loved the lace bits on it.  There is lace everywhere on everything.  One of the fun things about our seasons following on to the northern hemispheres is that you have a bit of a head ups if keeping an eye on the trends.

T-shirt : Legit
Trousers : Finnigans @ Truworths
Shoes : Jet
Necklace : Miladys
Bracelet : Charlotte Russe

Work was insanely busy today.  From just after I walked in, it did not stop.  Looks like this may be the pace for the next while.

BTW - I think the little bow is rather unnecessary - what's your thoughts?

Til we meet again, keep it Simply Sassy.

Blue Monday ... not

Monday Monday ... so good to me ... Monday Monday it was all I hoped it would be ...

I had a good day.  A fairly busy day ... even a little interesting.  There's lots going on in our Project.

Today I had every intention of wearing my new 'lust' shoes that I got on Friday, but since our clients were coming in for a meeting, I thought I'd put wearing them off for a few days.  So, the outfit started with this jacket and grew around it.  I was going to wear a tan skirt, but it was a wee bit too tight, then I thought of my black skirt and white jacket - but the jacket is still not ironed.  So, when I went back into my wardrobe, I saw this shift dress and decided to give it an airing as I have not worn it in ages as I've been wanting to take it in so that the tailor can make it a little slimmer fitting - but I have not gotten around to doing that ... and that's how I arrived at this look.

This weekend was spent doing some more decluttering and tidying in my room.  I also got G-man to finally hang the mirror in the lounge and move the other big mirror upstairs.  I moved things around in my room and sorted out my shoes.  I'm feeling so much better.  I'm also working on minimising the paper clutter ... I've started with the magazines ... and did a little work on my accounts.  I've tried wherever possible to get my statements via email.  Some places are very efficient and others are sadly lacking.

Thanks to Linda-Maree for the link to Contempos competition ... I entered :-)

Well, that's all for today folks .. thanks for passing by.

Til next time ... Keep it Simple, Keep it Sassy.

Bright in blue

I haven't taken my pics since last week and yesterday I did not feel to grand in my outfit which consisted of a black skirt and a gorgeous tan and black striped top I was given as a birthday gift, althought it looked okay, I just didn't feel to fabulous so I did not photograph it.

Today I did enjoy this outfit and got more than a few compliments at the mall after work.  Now who doesn't like being told they look good?  Honestly?  We all enjoy it.

So it's a cheap outfit all in all, nothing was more than around R150.00 and I think those were my shoes which G-man bought as part of my Christmas present last year.

 T-shirt : Mr. Price
Skirt : Jet
Jacket : Fashion Express
Shoes : Contempo (12/2010)
Necklace & Earrings : Bought at the China Mall

Now the thinking cap is on with regard to what to wear to work tomorrow as it's Secretaries Day and we're being taken out for lunch.

I'm so very tired as this morning I was woken up at 02:20 and yesterday morning at 03:30 and could not fall back to sleep.  Tonight I'm even more tired as I had a vicious migraine in the middle of the day - oh please let me sleep tonight.

Not much other news, got a kitty sleeping on my desk, boys sent to bed early for being nasty with each other and Miss Bean watching tv - maybe I should just go and have a nice shower, get an outfit together and go to bed real early.

Thanks for visiting ... be fabulous now.

And, another double bill

I did photograph Thursdays look after my visit to the hairdresser ... she left my hair about10 cm longer than the picture I took with, but maybe it's just as well.  It's similar to the last cut, just a little shorter and she thinned it out quite a bit.

My outfit of the day consisted of one of my favouirte skirts, a grey cami, green cardigan and grey shoes.

Friday saw me 'dressed down' in my OBR jeans, crinkly top and blazer.

Details : except for the shoes and brooch - everything is from Truworths.  I picked up this top on sale and loved the print.  It's a great summer piece and I'd have loved to pair it with a white linen boyfriend jacket, but I'm yet to see one, although I must admit, I'm not the biggest linen fan since it creases so easily.

Closer look at my haircut
Let me say this, I'm so looking forward to spring ... roll on, roll on.

Now I'm going to go and do something constructive like hang up my load that's just finishing and put another on ... I also have not started preparing for the scrapbooking day on Tuesday.  So much to do.

Comments welcome.

Be fabulous, be gorgeous ... relax and do something fun.

August ... the windy month

Ah, here we are!  August ... the month the wind blows winter away (we hope), the month of my birth, the month for Leos and Lioness' ... the month of ummmm ... considering starting the beach diet, the near end to winter month!  At last.

So here is the first outfit for the month ... F.I.E.R.C.E ... that's how I felt, for the first time in forever - I felt fierce today.

Details : Black Shift : Jet | Shoes : Plum | Jacket : Oasis, Foschini | Belt : Edgars | Necklace : Contempo

I finished the Jodi Picoult book I was reading, Perfect Match, and was a wee bit disappointed at the ending.  Not sure exactly why, but I felt it was a little weak.  Maybe I expected more.  Overall, a good story and interesting read.

Next on the list, I think I'll read One True Thing, which I did start previously, but then the studying was knocking, so I put it aside.  If you have not read any of Anna Quindlen's work, I strongly suggest it.  Blessings is fantastic and Every last one is thrilling.

Do you use Groupon?  At first I was really hesitant, but have bought three vouchers myself and G-man bought one as well.  I have to behave in fact, because there are so many fantastic offers.  On the 13th, I'm going for a 'right brain' therapy - quite intrigued, and tomorrow I need to call and book for a chemical peel.  The discounts are amazing!  I'm looking forward to when they offer shoes at these discounted prices.  G-man was lamenting that there's not much on offer for 'boys'.  I have to agree with that.  But then, just shows how much money can be made off of a woman ... facial, liposuction, manicure, pedicure, brazilian blow drys, waxes, etc. etc. etc. ... quite unbelievable in fact.

Well, I'm tired and need to fish out stockings for Jazz as he needs them for a school project and since he was already in trouble for not having the items at school last week, I don't want to be the cause of another demit.

'Til next time ... be fabulous, oh heck, just be fierce! (Not mean fierce, sexy, sassy and smart Fierce)
