A whole lot of catch ups

Wednesday 13 March 2013

I still have a few new items not yet shown on the blog, but I’m working at re-wearing and remixing items already in my wardrobe.
Today I decided to wear this dress at least once more before the colder weather arrives in earnest here in the southern
Hemisphere.

At first I wasn’t totally sure that this would look too good together but am quite impressed by how well it did work.

I choose to start this week off with a big bang of the colour purple topped off with some leopard.

I added an old necklace that has some animal print threaded through the chain, gold watch and sparkly earrings to ‘dress it up’.

I choose to keep the shoes simple and neutral and decided to wear my grey two toned toe cap shoes (I do love these shoes so).

The Deets :
Skirt – Mr Price
T-Shirt – Fashion Express
Cardigan - Truworths
Shoes – Rage
Necklace – Miladys
Earrings – Charlotte Russe (thanks Mz T.)
Watch – Lanco (was a gift Mz T got for her 18th birthday but she does not wear yellow gold)
Ring – bought when I lived in Germany and I can’t remember the store – but I remember the day L

A few weeks back when I visited the Woolworths 50% off sale (as a card holder, we get an extra 10% over and above the 50%)
I indulged in three pairs of jeans as mine were due for replacing.  I bought these which have a cute design on the back pocket
(but we forgot to photograph it) with a coral tank and my think white cotton shirt.  To give it a kick, I added the kitten heel
Leopard print sling back shoes.
The Deets:
Jeans – Woolworths
Tank – Local chinese store
Shirt – Pick ‘n Pay
Belt – unknown – stolen from Mz T years ago
Shoes – Truworths
Necklace – I think its from Mildays

I felt super pretty in this outfit.  I just love this short and am still sorry that I did not buy more in different colours at the
time I purchased this one.  As I always say, its more green than the blue it shoes up as in the photos.
I choose to wear two necklaces, however, I see the bits on the shorter of the two did not show up too nicely.

The Deets:
Top – Makro
Skirt – Fashion Express
Shoes – Rage
Belt – Edgars
Necklaces - Accessorize

Hope everyone has been great.  Things have been a bit hectic, with a photo shoot this past weekend and a new PM at
work – I can’t believe it’s already Thursday tomorrow!!

Hope your week has been grand.

FABruary Style Challenge : Day 20 : Boot Up

With summer temperatures expected here in Jozie today - I had to pass on this challenge.  I'm aware that its been on trend to wear boots with shorts and summer dresses, but I do believe I'm just not up to that trend at this stage of my life.

My offering for the day is this gorgeous soft top I bought fairly recently at Foschini.  I had originally chosen a beautiful blue top but when I got it home and fitted it, I wanted it a little bigger so I returned to get a bigger size, but they had none in the colour I'd originally chosen.  Dilemma!  I then chose this beautiful rich plum-ish colour.  Its more gorgeous in person.

This top is so versatile ... I wore it with shorts on the weekend and have every intention of styling it with jeans and other bottoms in my closet and I'll be wearing this right through winter as well.

Hope your Wednesday was fabulous.

FABruary Style Challenge : Day 5 : Belt it

Watch : Fossil | Necklace : Gift from Taryn : Belt : Woolworths (Pack of two for R99.00) | Ring : Truworths | Brooch : Gifted by my Mom
 Blazer : Pick 'n Pay | Sequin top : Mr. Price | Pants : Makro | Shoes : Rage | Shopper : Justine Cosmetics
Mint skinnies with belted denim blazer
Sequin top
This denim blazer is old ... it was given to me by my sister Norma at least 5 years ago and I have no idea how long she had it for.  Its come in very handy.  I do wish I could get another in a similar cut but with a darker wash.  Still, for denim its soft and doesn't sit stiff as it has a lot of stretch in the weave.

These pants are another 'new' to the blog item, although they've been hanging around my closet since around October.  They were a little too tight so I avoided wearing them (I have a nasty habit of not trying clothes on in store) and since I was uncertain about them, I left them and then it was too late to return them.  But the other day I tried them on and they fitted a little better which I think it due to the 4 pounds I've dropped, although they still bunch a little around the knees.  I usually prefer straight cut pants, but I had wanted this colour so snapped them up when I saw them.

The belt is a few shades darker than the pants and top and is from Woolworths.  There were a few different colour combinations of these belts and they come in packs of two for R99.00.  The other colour I bought is purple ... but there were some funky neon yellows and such colours.  They didn't quite say 'buy me'.

Navy and white

White denim capris and navy
Top : Truworths
Capris : Woolworths
Shoes : ShoeCity
Earrings : From somewhere in the States
Rings : Truworths
Watch : Fossil

Althought its not noticeable, I did pop past my hairdresser yesterday and she agreed that the back of my hair was not cut correctly and then fixed it for me.  I'm feeling far happier about my hair now.  Today I wanted to keep with the casual office look as I'm really ready for the office to close.

Last night we went to Mugg and Bean for me to have dinner as Schatz had indulged in a Lamb Shank for lunch and I was hungry.  I ordered Chicken Schnitzel, however they fried it for about 2 minutes too long ... the topping was interesting however, I was quite disappointed with the chicken ... after dinner we headed off to my sister Noleen to drop off an order for her daughter-in-law and then we passed by Lynn to deliver her order.  Richard had us in stitches telling us stories.  I so enjoy a good belly laugh.

I also got to see the Vow Renewal album Lynn is working on and was wowed by the photographs ... lol ... honestly, seeing them printed made an incredible difference and I am inspired by my own work and fired up to keep learning and improving my skills.  I've been a little unsure of myself and turned down an exciting opportunity due to lack of self belief but after seeing what I produced and that the photos have had the mininal amount of editing done I think I may well have a gift/capability.

I'm so looking forward to photographing my children real soon ... can hardly wait.

Hope your Thursday is absolutely fabulous and to all those retail staffers who are working through the Christmas season ... thank you for your sacrifice, I appreciate it.

Have a happy day now and do stop by the guestbook and let me know you came by ... at Simply Sassy we love love love comments and commentors.

Red - two days in a row

Navy and red
Red, Navy and Tan

Skirt, blazer & t-shirt : Truworths
Shoes : Edgars
Belt : Legit
Watch : Fossil

This was totally unintentional ... and I'm going to blame the season, oh heck, I'll be honest, by the morning I seldomly remember what I wore the day before.  Despite putting a reminder on my phone last night, I did not get my outfit ready so I had to decide this morning what I was going to wear.

I am thrilled that I finally found an OBI Belt that was not crazy expensive and fit me and that I like the colour of.  On Saturday when Courts and I were at The Glen we popped into Legit as I often find cute items for both of us there.  I first found a lovely 'shade of blue shirt' and as I was standing at the till I looked to my right and thre were OBI belts ... I checked and luckily found the only Large on the rail and snapped it up ... but the thrilling part was that both items were marked down by over 50% ... S.C.O.R.E.!  The belt was all of R29.99 and the shirt was down from R129.99 to R49.99.

I was looking for something to wear the belt with and this morning as after I'd decided on the skirt and jacket I saw the red t-shirt and thought it would go great with the brown belt and brown shoes.

I've been thinking about creating a 'clothing catalogue' of my clothing so that I wear things more often.  I often forget what I have in my closet and that's just wrong ... it almost means I have way too many items of clothing.  I think I am going to make this a bit of a priority and that way I could possibly mark how often I've worn something and if I have a quick visual of the items in the closet will wear them more often.  Any suggestions?
