My Word for 2013

re·fine verb, re·fined, re·fin·ing.

1.  to bring to a fine or a pure state; free from impurities: to refine metal, sugar, or petroleum.
2. to purify from what is coarse, vulgar, or debasing; make elegant or cultured.
3. to bring to a finer state or form by purifying.
4. to make more fine, subtle, or precise: to refine one's writing style.
verb (used without object)
5. to become pure.
6. to become more fine, elegant, or polished.
7. to make fine distinctions in thought or language.
I started toying with my word for the year a few weeks ago after seeing more than one reference to it by both Christine Kane and Jon Gordon.  There are many areas I want to work on, the top three are:
1. I am going to 'refine' my photography skills (4)
2. I am going to 'refine' my dress style and some of the areas of my home and how I personally operate
    within those areas. (6)
3. I am going to 'refine' my behaviour and language (2/7)
Have you chosen or thought about your word for 2013 - if you need some guidance, follow the two links above to Christine Kane and Jon Gordon where the philosophy behind the 'word' is explained.
Let me know if you choose a word and what your word for the year is going to be.
Hope your day is stunning.

  1. I love your thought word. What a wonderful idea. I'm going to have to give some thought to mine. I love that you are committing to refine your language and behavior. I need to do the same.

I'm thinking my 'thought word' should be GRACE. I think I need to think and behave with more grace to others. Not that I don't; but I don't think I ALWAYS do.....in others, i'm not as forgiving to those who hurt or upset me as I could be. I'm not sure if that is my word yet; I need to look up all the meanings like you did and ruminate on it.

This is a wonderful idea...so much nicer that making New Year's resolutions.
