As 2011 fades

beach new year

As 2011 draws slowly to an end and 2012 is knocking on our doors, it's time to reflect on a year that's passed and possibly make some plans for the year ahead. I need to thank 2010 for the invaluable lessons is afforded me and which I'm sure made 2011 a much easier year.  In many many ways 2011 was a lot calmer than 2010.  2010 kicked my ass so hard, and it was touch and go in some senses for me, but I put on my big girl panties and dealt with it.  From my daughter moving to Houston, which hit me and my little family much harder than I ever thought it would, to some serious and scary emotional issues with Boo and Rod.  But by the grace, and yes I say it loud and clear, by the Grace of God, we got through.  When the days where I truly thought I could not get out of bed one more time, His grace lifted me and got me going.

We started 2011 by surprising the family with Taryn arriving home for a visit on New Years day.  I so wish I'd taken photos of everyones faces when they saw her, but it would have spoilt the surprise if I'd been standing around with camera in hand.  She got to spend her 20th birthday here which was great.  We did not do many exciting things and the year seemed to go along at an odd pace, but the kids were super busy at school and Jarod made friends at last.  Courteney calmed down and thankfully ended a dark friendship, but gave us enough drama with the boyfriend to keep it interesting, and I ended the year by getting my head in gear and signing up for a photography course.

As 2012 comes closer, I'm deciding on my 'word' for the year.  This year was 'thrive', which I think I managed to do, compared to 2010.  But I can't seem to decide yet ... but I'll spend a little time on it.  Follow the link from the word 'word' above to find out what I'm referring to and to download the word of the year discovery tool by Christine Kane.

  2. You had an eventful year. Often, we move in directions and make progress that isn't apparent because we haven't arrived at a destination yet, but the progress is real nonetheless. I sense you've been moving in important ways which will reveal themselves soon.

    Happy New Year, my friend.
