The witch is happy

If the witch ain't happy .... ain't nobody happy.

You may well recall the unfortunate incident where I woke up and found my camera on the floor ... yes yes I know, I should not have left it on the chest of drawers, but I had and the only thing I can think of that happened, is that the strap slipped down and teased the cats, who subsequently managed to pull it down.

I sulked for a few days - then it dawned on me, we have insurance.  So I asked my schatz to check into it and although I was of the impression it was itemised, turned out it was not, but, we could claim under all risks.  We were given an amount we could claim for and well, great I thought, something to add to my kitty as I had started to save for an upgrade.  G-man got a call and the insurance asked for replacement camera quotes and then that he take the camera in.  I guess with the amount of fraud that could be committed, they needed to ensure we were not merely trying our luck.  He took it in and we waited to hear the outcome ... one part of me thought we'd get a call saying it was fixed, which would have been great.  Despite me not having used it as often as I used to, I felt as thought something was missing in my life ... 7 years of enjoying my best buddy by my side, suddenly it was gone.

They came back to us a couple days later saying it was a write-off and they were paying us out .. FOR A COMPLETELY NEW CAMERA!!!  Oh the joy, the possibilities ... I read comparisons between the D90 and D7000 as well as between the Nikon and Canon cameras.  After much research, questions, backwards and forwards in my head - I decided, despite it being discontinued, to go for the Nikon D90.  Yesterday I went to the camera store and got it ... along with a Speedlight SB700 which I've really been wanting ... oh my oh my oh my ... I'm back in First Grade, but of course we gave it a quick spin ... delight, joy, speed ... the witch ... she's H.A.P.P.Y and clapping her hands and chuckling with delight.

It's even better than I anticipated!!!!

  1. Great camera! I love that model. And it's super that insurance paid for it.

BTW, do people tell you how wonderful you are? Probably not enough. Your comment today on my blog was so sweet, so thoughtful, it makes me want to hug you. Thank you for being such a nice person.

  2. I am so glad for you...I know how lost I would be without my camera. My DH has a saying: "Happy wife, happy life."
