We had appointments for Courteney, Jarod and I at the optometrist for 12:00 yesterday. When we got to the shopping centre however, they'd been without electricity for two hours already. We rescheduled to this morning at 10:00.
We got there on time, had our tests done and all need new scripts and choose our new frames. The store was so busy that I said to the lady who does the quotes that I'd come back tomorrow after work to do the working out as it was just crazy.
I'm rather dreading the bill at the optometrist tomorrow as my lenses cost 4 times more than what the medical aid covers and my whole benefit is blown just by the frames alone. My optometrist just shook her head when she saw the benefit saying they're crazy you can barely get a frame on the benefit. They currently have a promotion on where you get one set of frames with single vision lenses for free, so I choose a pair that will have only my reading script in. Since my far vision script has barely changed, my sunnies are still good and don't really need replacing.
I then headed into Truworths (be still my bleeding heart they have a 50% off sale on the go) to pay my card and although I had a brief look through the sale items, I quickly pulled myself together and headed to the cashiers to make my payment.
I then headed to Edgars to do the same thing and you've guessed it, they too had a 50% off sale on the go and I again headed as quickly as I could without too many sideward glances to the nearest cashier and made my payment.
I'm really trying to curtail my spending as Taryn and I have an agreement to meet in Paris in 2016. There's some serious saving to be done for that trip as I am adamant to see everything I only glanced at last time and of course, I'm going to find the perfect souvenir to bring home too. Now I'm not saying I'll never buy anything ever again, but since I have clothing I've not yet worn and a gazillion items I've only worn once, I really am trying to wear the things I already have before purchasing more. There are as I've mentioned in previous posts items that need replacing and should I find the perfect replacement, I won't hesitate too long to purchase them.
I spent so much time on the couch yesterday sleeping as the heat simply knocked me sideways and today I've not been too productive since I got back from the optometrist, so I think I should haul my hiney off here and start painting my nails and toenails before I toss our chicken in the oven and sort out some outfits for the week. I bought a pretty silver shade that I'm considering wearing this week from Tip Top, however I'm not finding the shade I bought on their site, possibly cause its older.
I added a single lonely photograph to Simply Sassy Photography as well ... Hope you've had a magnificent weekend.
Its hard to maintain that discipline and I'm happy for you that you have resisted temptation so far! Keep it up...I'm trying to do the same.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. I also have made a promise to myself not to purchase anymore nail polish or makeup that is not something I really want or will use. It's such a waste of money and could be used for more important things. Keep up the fight!
ReplyDelete2016 ... Paris = a fantastic reason to wear what you have in your closet!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo you loaded on Simply Sassy Photography!
