The Voortrekker Monument

Graeme and Richard had decided to visit the Fort Klapper-somethingorother and invited the 'girls' along.  At first I was not going to go with, then changed my mind, because I've decided that I need to get out more often and it was a good photo opportunity as well.

However, when we got to the gate at Fort Klapper-somethingorother, it was closed!!  It is closed on Monday's and Public Holidays, which is really confusing as many people do outings on Public Holidays, or not.

We then decided to the Voortrekker Monument, which is just a few kilometres away.  It turned out to be a great decision.  Before going to the Monument, we visited Fort Schanskop.

  1. It was fun to read your sister's post on this very same trip and then read yours. Now I have two windows into your world!

  2. Hey Wendy! Thanks so much for the nice comment on my blog! :)

I've gone to museums and other attractions only to find them closed too. So annoying! Glad you were still able to have a fun outing.

    Happy new year!

  3. It sure was a fun day ... In retrospect I am really happy that Fort Klapperkop was closed ~ I had REALLY wanted to visit the Voortrekker Monument and now I can say that this early in 2012 I have done something that I haven't done in 39 years!!! Thanks for coming with, I enjoyed spending time with you little sister.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment - I love hearing others feelings and appreciate your time. Please be honest - BUT kind.

Have a fabulous day now and I'll be coming round to visit you as soon as I can.

Thanks again, Wendy
