It's looking a lot like ...

Christmas at our house. We put up the tree, decorated it and also put some other decorations up. It looks so pretty and the three of my children who were here enjoyed themselves.

I find the blinking lights magical and mesmerising.

Now to put lots of gifts under the tree is the objective. Not all from me, of course, but I'm to do the shopping from their dad and his wife.

I miss the smell of Christmas in Germany, the decorations and just the feeling of it. South Africans don't do much decorating, and of course, it's summer here, so the smell is not the same. I miss the advent wreaths, the smell of baking. The candles with the cinnamon scent ... I just miss it ... but more than all that, I miss the anticipation of the possibility of it snowing!

Ah, how we always miss what we don't have!

  1. Aw, this made me smile. Remember when you were so homesick for Africa and I was so homesick for my hometown? I never thought I'd hear you say you were missing something about Germany! :)

Have a fabulous day now and I'll be coming round to visit you as soon as I can.

Thanks again, Wendy
