Denim on denim

The coolest, hippest, sweetest, funkiest, most lovable 13 year old in the universe!!

Denim shirt on denim skirt
 WHEN:  October 3, 2013 : Wednesday

THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS:
Denim on Denim
Shirt : CCI
Skirt : Fashion Express
Necklace : Sass Diva

THE BASICS :
Wedges : Meltz

THE DAY PLAN : I started my day with the gym and then finally completed my Module 3 and submitted it
 - awaiting my result with bated breath.
When I got up yesterday morning, I was not sure I wanted to go to gym.  I kinda debated it with myself in my head and then decided to go because I knew I feel much better after I've been.  I then decided to tick off another item on my October Action List and try something new at gym.  My something new was a Rebounding class.  I saw it in action for a few minutes last week and thought it would be fun.  Well it was fun and I laughed a lot because I was simply unable to get the co ordination right to do some of the exercises, but I enjoyed it immensely and I if my schedule allows, I shall be doing it again next week.  I must say - 'my alles is seer' (my everything is sore).
 just do it
Some info about Rebounding in the link above :

NASA research found rebounding to be 68% more efficient than running on a treadmill!

Just 2 minutes of rebounding offers equivalent physiological benefits as: 6 minutes of running -  10 minutes of swimming and 22 minutes of walking!

In just 2 minutes of rebounding – the entire lymphatic system is flushed out and the white blood cell count nearly triples, providing a greater defence system to destroy cancer cells.

It was our monthly sistas dinner last night and yet again we went to Casa Rossi.  Norma was curious to see how it would be after the previous manager had left.

Sadly, except that the food was up to its usual standard, the rest of it was disappointing.  The restaurant was very empty and had no atmosphere.  The music was insipid.  The service was slow.

THE VERDICT : I don't believe I've ever worn denim on denim in my adult life, or at least, not that I can remember.    In my head I clearly see the pictures of Brittney and Justine in their matching denim on denim look and it kinda makes me cringe and hope I don't look as bad.  Will look back on this in a month or two and possibly shudder.  Not sure I'm wild about it, but today I thought I'd give it a try.

Weigh Less Wendy

Where  Glenvista Fitness

When   September 11, 2013

Time     07:15

I hit the gym again this morning and did the above routine.  I decided to hit the treadmill for a 'fat burn workout' and concentrated on my legs today.  I'm wondering how sore its going to be tomorrow morning.  I'm stoked that I got off my butt and have been to the gym twice this week and for achieving my goal for the week of two visits a week as per this post.. No promises, but I am scheduling in my mind a visit on Friday where I'll work arms.

Besides getting an email off to Anabela, its the only other thing on my List of Intentions I've achieved, but then, we have a good few days still to go in this month.

Tonight is our monthly Sistas Dinner.  I'm looking forward to seeing my sisters and catching up on their news.  I'm considering suggesting a monthly sisters get together on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to scrapbook.  I have tons of scrapbooking products and just never get around to scrapbooking, maybe I should throw the idea onto the table this evening and see what comes out of it.  I haven't scrapbooked in almost two years now, but often still buy goodies.  I sometimes think I'll just put it all up for sale - but my heart just won't allow me to.

So now its time to hit the shower and get the day going.  I have lots I intend doing today - and its almost 09:00.

Hope your day is fabulous.
Wendy

Scattered paper

Once upon a time an old man spread rumors that his neighbor was a thief.
As a result, the young man was arrested.
Days later the young man was proven innocent.
After being released he sued the old man for wrongly accusing him.
In court the old man told the Judge: "They were just comments, didn't harm anyone."
The judge, before passing sentence on the case, told the old man: "Write all the things you said about him on a piece of paper. Cut them up and on the way home, throw the pieces of paper out.  Tomorrow, come back to hear the sentence."
Next day, the judge told the old man: "Before receiving the sentence, you will have to go out and gather all the pieces of paper that you threw out yesterday."
The old man said: "I can't do that! The wind spread them and I won't know where to find them."
The judge then replied: "The same way, simple comments may destroy the honor of a man to such an extent that one is not able to fix it. If you can't speak well of someone, rather don't say anything. Let's all be masters of our mouths, so that we won't be slaves of our words".

The Green Thing

Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman that she should bring her own shopping bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.

The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days."

The cashier  responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."

She was right - our generation didn't have the green thing in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, pop bottles and beer bottles to the store. The  store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But we didn't have the green thing back in our day.

We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every shop and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.

But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day.

Back then, we washed the baby's nappies because we didn't have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.

But that young lady is right. We didn't have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room.  The TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the  size of the county of Yorkshire. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the post, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.  Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn petrol just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.

But she's right. We didn't have the green thing back then.

We drank water from a fountain or a tap when we were thirsty instead of demanding a plastic bottle flown in from another country.  We accepted that a lot of food was seasonal and didn’t expect that to be bucked by flying it thousands of air miles around the world.  We actually cooked food that didn’t come out of a packet, tin or plastic wrap and we could even wash our own vegetables and chop our own salad.
But we didn't have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the tram or a bus, and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their mothers into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.
But isn't it sad, the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then?

Remember:  Don't make old people mad. They don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to stir them up.

Positive Pledge

The Positive Pledge
I pledge to be a positive person and positive influence on my family, friends, co-workers and community.

I promise to be positively contagious and share more smiles, laughter, encouragement and joy with those around me.

I vow to stay positive in the face of negativity.

When I am surrounded by pessimism I will choose optimism.

When I feel fear I will choose faith.

When I want to hate I will choose love.

When I want to be bitter I will choose to get better.

When I experience a challenge I will look for opportunity to learn and grow.

When faced with adversity I will find strength.

When I experience a set-back I will be resilient.

When I meet failure I will fail forward towards future success.

With vision, hope, and faith, I will never give up and will always move forward towards my destiny.

I believe my best days are ahead of me, not behind me.

I believe I'm here for a reason and my purpose is greater than my challenges.

I believe that being positive not only makes me better, it makes everyone around me better.

So today and every day I will be positive and strive to make a positive impact on the world.

Are you a positive person?  When lemons come hurtling at you, how do you deal with it?  It's guaranteed, no matter who you are, your race, your social standing, you're going to have bad days.  But I do believe that it's how we deal with it.  Sure, you're entitled to take a few days to mope about and bemoan your situation, but exactly how long are you going to spend feeling sorry for yourself.

I asked a collegue if they felt I was a positive person and the answer came back as yes ... and I believed it would be the answer because I truly try hard to keep 'the sunny side up' regardless.  Its often not easy to be positive, but we keep on keeping on trying.

So, will you take the pledge with me?
