FABruary Style Challenge : Day 25 : Play with eyeshadow

I really don't think the lace on lace worked but I was feeling pretty uninspired this morning and grabbed the first thing I thought would work then threw on the blazer - please excuse my lacklustre Monday style attempt.

Today was a challenge that I find a wee bit difficult - playing with eyeshadow.  I'm quite predicable with what I wear and how I wear it. 

Today I wore a set with a dusty pink, grey and purple but I could not get it to photograph clearly but I'm adding two below.

 ... and as promised last week ... my gorgeous pendant from Taryn for Valentine's day with blue diamonds - I'm so in love with it.  Its from Kay Jewellers and a most unexpected surprise.

Tomorrow evening I have an appointment with my hairdresser - I'm going for a hairline tint, cut, blow and 6 foils  ... I'm tempted to do something a little funky with my cut, but I can almost bet I'll chicken out at the last minute, but I am considering some red streaks.  My style is something between the two below but I'm tempted to go for the first one.  What's your opinion?

Todays challenge is 'something old and something new'.  The tank with the knit top over is a new to my closet item and the shoes must be the oldest item in this ensemble.

The top has a bit of gold in it, but its not being picked up in the photos.  The necklace was a gift from Taryn (can you tell that she spoils me ... mama feels loved) on her first visit home and she fixed it for me when she was home in December.

This is a rather different look for me and not something I'd wear every day but it sure was cool and comfortable.

This evening I got another gift from Taryn.  She sent me a beautiful blue and white diamond pendant which I'll definitely wear tomorrow and share with you.  She also send me a gorgeous Eiffel Tower keyring ... we're dreaming big as we plan our 2016 trip to Paris.

After picking up my amazing gift, Courteney and went to gym.  I have not been since about October or November, so it was really time.  Courteney asked if we could join boxing on Wednesdays - now that should be fun.

Todays challenge in the FABruary Style Challenge is Coloured shoes - I did not go for the brightest as today we wore black in support of an anti-rape campaign after the brutal gang-rape and murder of 17 year old Anene Booysen.  Sadly our country is the rape capital of the world.  

 

I've had these sandals for at least three years.  I had seen them in the Truworths brochure and had to order them as my local store had no stock.  They were a little pricey for the quality and about a centimetre too high but I love them.

 

My dress I don't wear too often as its so low cut, but I found these cami inserts that help to cover up.  I found it moved and slipped about for most of the day but at least it covered up the gals.

I need to get a picture where it highlights the shiny bits in my necklace - no picture has done it justice as yet.

Here is another new to the blog item - my red blazer.  You may remember that I searched for ages for one, but did not find exactly what I wanted.  This is as close as I think I may get.  I bought it off my sister months ago after she had bought it but felt it did not fit quite right. 

I love this skirt and am not totally sure why I have not worn it in what could easily be a year.  I do remember that I need to hem the lining as its a little long, but it did not peep out today ... also, with the two kgs I've lost, it's not as snug around the pear bit of me as it was.

Its day 13 in the FABruary Style Challenge and I see that I am short of a few posts - not sure I'm going to catch them up though. 

This morning I had a look at a few of the other participants (duh me, still not quite up to speed with Twitter as yet) and want to have a look at a few more.  I added a few to follow in future.

These capris are more mint green in real life than how they appear as blue in this photo.  I'm always amazed at how colours change when photographed.

I'm still super keen on this top and think this is the best its looked thus far. I had originally intended to wear it with these trousers (pictured to the left and which are a little darker than the capris I'm wearing today) but then decided to go with the capris.   I also prefer it styled with the thinner belt than the two previous times as pictured below.

Hmmm ... does my outfit show how little prep went into this look beforehand?  I think it s.c.r.e.a.m.s. lack of planning and imagination ... lol.  I kinda had a look in mind, but the pieces I was going for were simply not working.  This waistcoat has only been on the blog once before and I have put it in the 'for sale' pile twice, then pulled it out and thought, you have potential.  Do you have any other styling tips - or it is as 'frumpy' looking at what I see it as?

FABruary Style Challeng : Day 11 : Flowers

I'm a little behind on the Style Challenge and yesterday did not move out of my house, much less put on makeup, style the hair or even think about the challenge.  It was my 'beauty' morning and then I took it easy for most of the day.  For the 'flower' challenge, I decided to wear flowers in my ears. 

 Despite trying not to wear black on Mondays, since we had clients coming in, I decided to show off my new LBD.  I saw it on the Truworths sale (don't say that too loud now) and just loved the scooped neckline. At almost 50%, I felt it was a bargain I could not pass up.  I do so wish the wind would just behave while we take my pics in the morning and not mess up my hair so quickly.

I don't do red lipstick - at all.  I have really thin lips, so when I were red on my lips, my lips look even thinner.  It kinda makes me cringe because my lips like a mean witches stripe across myface - so I have a real mental block with it.  I don't even own a red lipstick - so I had to skip this one ... however, if navy and white were the order of the day, I believe I have passed.

My hair behaved so well this morning ... why is it that some days it's like an untamed child and no amount of coaxing will make it do as you wish.  Then other days, you can't believe you ever have a hard time!

I have mostly worn my nude wedges with these white capris (but my tootsie nails are still not painted), but today took a little leap and decided to wear my two toned grey cap toe courts.  I'd usually not wear this colour with the rest of my ensemble, but decided to be a little daring and overall, I think they look fabulous.

Have you noticed that my little photographer is doing such a stunning job?  Courteney has been taking my photos in the morning and I'm really chuffed with what a great job she's been doing.

Ombré shoes

The Allure of Ombré

Just the word itself sounds alluring and intriguing. Ombré is a French word meaning "to shade" and is often used to describe a dip-dye effect given to fabric in which the shades of color graduate from light to dark. The most sophisticated look is based on a monochromatic color scheme, but three different complementary colors can also be combined. The look is all about color, with the feeling an artist has dipped and shaded the colors by hand.

Todays Style Challenge was Jacket Up ... my interpretation for the challenge of the day is this leopard print cardigan in place of a jacket, that I wore for a brief time on Monday.  I saw it last year and had considered purchasing it, however I felt it was a little pricey but I did like the wool of the knit.  I saw it last week on the Truworths sale at 75% and felt it was too good an offer to pass up.

These are one of my most favourite pairs of shoes in my closet ... I adore the ombré effect.

I just realised now that I should have worn the other ring Taryn gave me as the stone is a very similar colour to the yellow stone in my bracelet.

This denim blazer is old ... it was given to me by my sister Norma at least 5 years ago and I have no idea how long she had it for.  Its come in very handy.  I do wish I could get another in a similar cut but with a darker wash.  Still, for denim its soft and doesn't sit stiff as it has a lot of stretch in the weave.

These pants are another 'new' to the blog item, although they've been hanging around my closet since around October.  They were a little too tight so I avoided wearing them (I have a nasty habit of not trying clothes on in store) and since I was uncertain about them, I left them and then it was too late to return them.  But the other day I tried them on and they fitted a little better which I think it due to the 4 pounds I've dropped, although they still bunch a little around the knees.  I usually prefer straight cut pants, but I had wanted this colour so snapped them up when I saw them.

The belt is a few shades darker than the pants and top and is from Woolworths.  There were a few different colour combinations of these belts and they come in packs of two for R99.00.  The other colour I bought is purple ... but there were some funky neon yellows and such colours.  They didn't quite say 'buy me'. 

FABruary Style Challenge : Day 3 & 4

I got dressed before looking at the challenge for the day yesterday, so I skipped it.  I wore shorts as it was sooo hot and we were going off to play adventure golf with the kids.  It was fun and the course out at Bright Water Commons is really pretty.

Today, the challenge is to wear a dress.  I'm ashamed to admit that this is only the second time I'm wearing this dress and more than ever, I'm convinced it needs adjusting.  The waist doesn't fit quite right, so I'm thinking of converting it into more of a fitted dress as well as removing the collar.  Initially I had considered wearing the new LBD I purchased on the Truworths sale, but then decided against it as its black and I'm still committed to keep away from black on Mondays.

I had to put the cardigan on over the collar as it just doesn't fit under it.  That's one of the reasons why I've contemplated removing the collar, but I'm rather nervous of removing it and possibly messing up the dress completely.

Its so hot today that I removed the cardigan soon after arriving in the office.  I noticed as I drove out the driveway this morning that I had no 'finger candy' on either and to be honest, I'm so used to wearing rings that I feel quite naked.

On other notes ...

I put my first money away for my Paris 2016 trip last week - all of R135.00 ... now don't laugh, its a start.  This is a long term goal that I'm working towards and I promised that my Justine earnings will go into the kitty.  January is always a slow sales month and although I did earn a little more than that, I had used the income before I could squirrel it away.  This is one of my intentions for 2013 ... I have a figure in mind that I intend saving.

Keeping with the whole intentions vein, printed  off 'Unravelling the year ahead 2013" from www.susannahconway.com and want to spend a little time going through her workbook this evening.  This came about after I printer off the 2013 Intentions from Marcia at www.purposefultimemanagement.com.  As I've read, you have to have it written down and visible to make a conscious effort to stay intetional about your intentions ... which brings me to a question for you - Are you working on your intentions for 2013? 

Hope you're hammering away at them, or at least considering reading the various newsletters and post from Jon Gordon, Christine Kane etc. etc.
