For the first time in ages I did some ironing and basic outfit planning last night.  This jacket is new to the blog despite that I bought it back in October but this is the first time I'm wearing it.  When we saw it in Jet Courteney insisted that I buy it.  It was really cheap and as with most cheap items, once washed and you get to ironing, you figure out the lack of attention to detail in the garment.  Not all cheap items are so, but this is one of those.  However, since its not an 'investment' item, I can overlook the shortcomings for the wears I will get out of it.

I spent a little time looking through my closet yesterday and must admit that I far too many items I've not yet worn or worn once only.  I really need to wear the things I have before adding anything new.  I may be putting myself on a little retail detail and only buy absolute essentials and basic items.  Since I'm trying to drop a few pounds as well, it may be a good time not to spend either.

This all brings me to some Style goals for the year of 2013 :

1.  Get more wear out what is already in my closet by mixing and matching before simply
adding and wear what I have not yet worn.
2.  Purchase essentials and basics only if necessary (I think replacing my snakeskin shoes is a
     necessity)
3.  Keep working at defining my personal style and keep out the rut and keep trying new
     colours.

Do you have goals for the year?

Blogger inspiration ... denim and red ... thanks Bessie

On Tuesday evening as I was hopping around the blogs reading and enjoy all the gorgeous stylish ladies, I visited Bessie and saw this outfit.  Ah, the light bulb went off, I can create this outfit without a problem.  Only thing, I don't have such a thick belt, so I went with my snakeskin belt and shoes.  Since it's Spring here, I did not wear hose.   I added my royal blue set of bracelets bought a couple weeks back - I am so smitten with this colour at the moment.

The usual photo bomber ... she loves posing

Tiara tantrums

On my way home from work, I stopped at a Costume Store in the hope that they'd have the goodies Miss Boo has requested for her birthday - at her school, the birthday girl wears a tiara, sash and a bunny tail ... well, I found a little tiara but none of the items she's asking for.
Drama boy

Then I grabbed Liam and he's so dramatic, you'd think I were shaving his hair off ... silly boy.

I can't wait for my hairdresser to get back to work.  I'm desperate for a cut.  I could not get time before she went on leave and now it feels like its been months.  Its one of those strange things in life, one day your hair is fine, suddenly the next the style just seems to leave.  I'll never understand it.

Hope your Thursday was fabulous.

Office wear

Details
Skirt : Truworths
Shirt : Pick 'n Pay
Shoes : Edgars
Belt : Edgars
Necklace : Contempo

I'm really missing my photographer :-(.  With my schatz now coming home far later than before, we're trying to adjust to a new schedule and sadly, it means that my photog is unavailable when the light is still good.  Yesterday and todays pics were taken by Miss Boo on my phone.  Not bad overall, but not quite the same as when taken with my 'baby'.  I'm weighing my options on how best to maximise my time and get the best photos for the week ... got some ideas, its implementing them thats the challenge.

All the items in this outfit have been seen before.  My snakeskin shoes that Miss T hates, my shiny skirt that was a little too tight a month or so ago (and nope, I've still not been to gym) and I think this is the first time I've worn it this winter ... my shirt that was a birthday gift from my mother about two or three years back and on the same birthday I got the necklace from my sister Lynn.

When I got home this afternoon i changed into leggings and flat boots so that Schatz and I could go shopping for my little guys birthday.  My youngest will turn 12 tomorrow ... I can't believe it and I can't believe how quickly the past twelve years have flown by and how much my little man has grown ...

Happy Birthday my precious little guy, may your day be wonderful and the year ahead full of fun, laughter and blessings.

Colour blocking?

 Skirt : Miladys (altered)
Top : Truworths
Shoes : Kelso at Edgars
Bangles : Edgars, Truworths, Mr. Price

If you're a 'style/fashion blogger', have you found that you're way more daring in some respects than you were before you started blogging?  I have always had a 'shoe fetish' and love shoes with interesting details, high heels and extras to them.  But as for the clothing, I'd wear something 'zhoosh', but mostly toned down.  However, I don't think that before feeling challenged and empowered by this community, I'd have ventured out wearing the colour combination I did today.  It would have been one or the other, with cream, white or black, but unlikely to have shown up together on my body.

I'm really challenged on what to wear tomorrow - could you pop on over and throw a couple of outfits together for me?

Hope y'all had a fabulous day ... til next time,
Keep it Simply Sassy

Another double bill

So Monday's outfit - althought in my head at the time of putting it together I thought would look much better than it did in reality - sadly - but this happens and I tried it, now I know ... but Monday I felt fat - oh boy, of course you ladies know what that means is heading your way!  lol

Not thrilled
Details : Shirt - Woolworths (its a man's shirt) | Skirt : the Hub | Shoes : Truworths |
Along came Tuesday and I quite enjoyed this - but as you can see, I've been lazy about taking my 'baby' out to do the photos and hauling it upstairs, so I've been doin the lazy kitchen area photos on the little camera - anyways, the dress is a summer dress and the VERY low cut one I wore to my nephews engagement part last year.  I put a long sleeved top underneath (never shown on the blog before from what I can remember and a purchase from Germany, so its about 6 -7 years old) with a snood. I like it and the colour and design, it is so pretty.

... and no, thats not a cigarette in my hand, it's a sucker stick ;-)

The shoes Miz T hates ... and I love

So it's Wednesday, and tomorrow will be Thursday and I am writing an exam and look at how hard I'm studying ... so now I'm off to do the right thing - read through some more of the work and make notes and hope that something sticks in my brain :-).  I don't know where my daughter got her brain from - but boy, she wrote 4 papers last week and got three A's and a B!! Sigh, it's stressful having bright kids ;-)

Hope you had a happy voting day.

January 27 - Dang, einaar

So today was another insane day.  Yesterday i did not even take pictures as i wore my 'reliable' black trouser with the DH black and white striped t-shirt - only difference, I wore red bangles and red bead necklaces.

When G-man got home, we rushed off to The Glen so that I could have Missy passport photos redone, then he had his done.  We then went down to the optometrist and G-man chose his frame and Liam chose a new frame as he lost his glasses just before school finished in December.

We then did lunch shopping and came home and had dinner.

Today started off with a visit to Home Affairs to apply for new passports.  Oh boy, what a rigmarole - I forgot to take copies of their dad's ID, but then turned out that the scanned letter giving permission was not acceptable, it had to be faxed!

So, we applied for G-man's and mine, then their poor dad ended up staying up until about 3am his time trying to get his id and the letter faxed through.

I headed back there after work and yay - it's done.  Now we wait 6 - 8 weeks for them.  At least it's done and they should be here in time for their visit in the July school holidays.

The jersey made me feel close to Taryn the entire day as it smelt like her.  I'm not sure where it comes from.  The skirt is a Merien Hall from Edgars, the shoes are also from Edgars, the shirt is from Legit (I don't usually buy there) and the earrings are from Miladys and the belt from Meltz.

With the lady dogs in the house (Jody on the left and Tequila on the right)
A close-up

After taking these photos and trying to get up the back stairs, between getting past and over the dogs and this time both the boys were bombarding me, I tripped and banged up my shin.  My camera fell over on the tripod, but I don't think it got hit too hard, but will have to go and check it out.  Shew, to be in such demand.  My shin however has a lovely big bruise on it now :-(.

November 23 - Killer Heels

Today I felt fierce - I think I looked it too ... especially since these heels are killer and so many people give them a second glance.  I enjoyed wearing this today and would most certainly have loved to wear this to an interview, especially since in my core I 'felt' this look.

Fierce
 Details
Black shift dress - Jet (R99- compared to R289- at some other stores and the material is great considering the price)
Jacket - Finnigans at Truworths
Shoes - bought about 4 years ago at Edgars (my daughter Taryn hates them)
Belt - Styled with you in mind
Bangles - Edgars and Legit
Chunky ring - Truworths
Earrings - hmmm
Watch - Honey
Sneaky intruder
I had to show how my boy is sneaking into the pictures - seems he needs his own photoshoot now.

The finishing touches
I realise though that the decor on the belt is a little saggy and am wondering how I can get it to stay in place since the belt is a stretch one?!
