Capsule Wardrobe Advise
As regular readers know, I'm heading to Houston, TX at the end of December to attend my daughters wedding. Of course, besides all the obvious excitement and the thought of hitting up the stores, my thoughts of course have gone to what to put in my suitcase. Since we're in Summer here and I'm heading to Winter, I'm now contemplating what to pack in the suitcase. Since I'll be meeting my future son-in-law, his family and my daughters friends and acquaintances for the first time, I'm of course wanting to make a good impression.
My biggest problem with travelling to a Winter climate is that you in fact can't take as many clothes as you would when travelling into Summer due to the sheer weight of Winter clothing.
Here's where I'm asking for some suggestions - those who know my wardrobe, please make some suggestions of outfit possibilities I may have overlooked over the past season where I can mix and match effectively.
I'm looking forward to your suggestions.
On the subject of wedding, I prowled around the Dress Barn site earlier and quite liked these dresses - whats your thoughts?
I think I'm most keen on the charcoal one above ...
The wedding details are as follows
The ceremony is taking place at 16:00 on the patio of the Country Club and is followed by dinner in the Country Club.
Of course if I choose to wear any of the dresses, I'll need to wear some sort of pashmina/blazer/jacket ... but
I'm just so unsure of what to wear!!
Let me know your thoughts folks ... share share share ... suggest suggest suggest :-)

High Low Shirt dress
This is the dress I bought myself with the money my son gifted me. They're such generous souls (don't tell him that I actually put the money into his bank account though).
Before I could wear it though, I had to have my Mom mend it and sew new seams as the cat (not this big boy, but our mischievous little Marshy) had attacked it and ripped it - thankfully the rip was right next to the seam so it was easy to fix.
Couldn't resist showing off my big boy (btw he's not the one who attacked my dress - we have three cats and it was the youngest of the bunch)
I'm finding that a lot of the dresses at present are cut with very short bodices - most of them are fitting right under the girls. I do prefer it when a dress fits in the waist, but am just not finding them to be so. Its a little uncomfortable, but I'm surviving. I'm guessing I'll just get used to how they feel when someone will change the patterns ... dang Murphy ... lol.
Details:
Dress : Mr. Price
Shoes : Fashion Express
Necklace : Made by my daughter
Bracelet - A gift from my daughter
Although this dress came with a belt, I don't quite like the colour, so when getting dressed I went through a bunch of belts trying to find one that went well with the dress and shoes ... none of them looked right and then I spotted this potential 'belt' which is in fact a necklace. I've worn necklaces as belts before and providing the item of clothing does not need to be held up by the belt, they're often an interesting alternative. Have you ever worn a necklace as belt?
The material is lovely and prefect for our hot summers here in Africa - its a really easy comfy wearable cotton blend.
When looking at my photos - I must say, girls like Lyddie just amaze me with their self portraits - I just don't seem to have the knack for it, no matter how well I prepare ... lol.
Woohoo ... and all that jazz
So sorry for no new OOTD posts ... yes, I have been getting dressed, however, with all my own self inflicted pressures and others, I'm running a little behind.
But here's how things are looking in my little universe and its good people - good things
But here's how things are looking in my little universe and its good people - good things
- I lost 1kg (Schatz offered to help me look for it) on my eating plan this past week and am so chuffed. Another 4 to get to goal weight! However, as I mentioned on my other blog, I'm aiming for an extra 4 - but am not pressuring myself about it until I get to my current goal set by the WeighLess calculations.
- My USA Visa (did I mention this already this week?) was approved, so the first part of getting to my daughters wedding is done. Now to book the ticket, find an appropriate outfit (will probably shop for it once I'm there) pack the suitcase and make a list of all the thrift and charity shops in around their area (Houston - yes, its B.I.G. so this is a challenge). She has also confirmed the date of the wedding to be 4 January 2014.
- My blog has been mentioned on high50 and specifically on this link - so awesome and thanks so much. I check my stats often (sometimes some weirdo sites show up on the referring URLs list - real unsavoury ones and I can't for the life of me figure out why). Some of my most favourite bloggers are mentioned as well.
- I'm feeling such a difference since getting going on Casseys Ho's blogilates workouts - they are killer! I do believe I'll see significant changes in the next couple weeks.
- My studio is getting more and more organised with each passing day - need a glamour shoot, newborn baby shoot, boudoir shoot or a quick family shoot - check out my Site.

- I've added a backdrop to my studio and a ColorMunki to my digital perfecting arsenal. Relieved to know that when I'm working on photos, I'm seeing true colour.
- Wanting to add a few photo walks to my end of year events list - really need to sit down with the calendar and make some plans. PhotoWalkers and PhotoComment both offer these.
- Got one Americano Christmas gift done and dusted and I bet you can't guess whose it is. Since I'll be there just after Christmas, I'm a little less pressurised to get them posted and will take them in my luggage instead of posting them.
- I got my 2014 diary - I saw this earlier this week and just fell in love, however, the monthly tabs of the two that were in the store I was in were bent so I did not buy it. Today I found it at PNA and decided to go ahead and buy it. Its filled with fun interesting crafting goodies, ideas, quotes and websites ... I bought mine at PNA but I did see it at CNA and so I'm guessing you'll find it all over. Its published by Metz Press (Its definitely for the South African market)
- At the moment, I'm loving how things are working out in my life - I've done a lot of crying out of pure happiness. I feel some days like I want to dance around like a crazy kid ... te he te he ... lets go puddle jumping!
- I fell in love with a new to me blog today thanks to high50 - go visit
